Hi.

I don't remember if it was on a Vectra B or a Seat, but it had some kind of extension for valve caps in the fuel filler door.

It was a gray plastic tube that you could insert the valve caps into, which made it easier to screw them on.

I'm currently struggling to remove the hubcaps on my Passat. They're so deeply recessed within the wheel covers that I can't get to them.

Is this extension also available individually from VW, or somewhere else?

Greetings.

"Doesn't every VW already have that from the factory?"
Nothing more will be unscrewed for inspection; you can find the relevant information under "Extension" or a similar heading in the documentation.

No... did they save on those for the 3C...? Aren't they on every valve?

What the document says looks like a "long valve cap."

"I have those. I also had 4 of them lying around from my old Leon, but I can't find them anymore."

My Zafira B colleague just confirmed that Opel has a dedicated extension key that clips into the fuel filler door.

I need this tool because, despite the longer valve caps, I can't reach the valve stems on the wheel covers of the 3C model.

This is what I meant.

Every Opel has it, it's obvious.

It also seems to serve the additional purpose of enabling or disabling the child lock.

Did you buy that thing?

My Zafira colleague lent me the part, and it fits perfectly.

I now have several options:

- to steal a part from my dad's Vectra icon_eek.gif.
- Nagging my dad about how he doesn't need that (which is probably true).
- To have a heated discussion with another Opel driver.
- order from Opel

Let's see, the next time I'm near the Vectra icon_smile.gif.

Hello Martin,

Go to a tire shop and buy the valve extensions with part number 3B0 601 373A. You simply screw them onto the valve. You won't need to unscrew the cap to check the tire pressure, it's that easy. You'll need to do this for all four tires, since you have four tires, haha.
I can only recommend these things, and you won't get your hands dirty.
But be careful, these parts are in high demand and are often stolen. I actually had to buy some just recently because someone had stolen mine.
If you've ever tried these products and maybe even bought some, please share your opinion about them.

Best regards,

Hello,
Yes, the valve caps recommended by my predecessor are very good. The only disadvantage, besides the risk of loosening, is that air pressure gauges that are placed on them and are supposed to stay in place (e.g., those with two digital displays at Aral) don't stay on. These require the threads of the valve to stay in place. Therefore, the described caps are particularly useful for portable devices that you take with you to every bike and attach to a connection on the compressed air system for inflating. So, the ones with the large analog display. - haithamina

Is that not 3B0 601 373A?

A piece of silicone tubing also works quite well – simply choose an inner diameter that fits the valve cap. This is an old trick from the automotive electrical trade: it was the only way to get the instrument panel light bulbs out back in the day...

Best regards, Robert.
