I have a water leak coming in through a rear door (Volkswagen Golf IV).
The door is sealed to the interior by a profiled metal panel that houses window lifters, etc. This panel is screwed to the inside of the door and sealed with a gasket made of some kind of foam.

This sealing strip is damaged in several places and can only be purchased as part of the complete metal profile.

What would you use to seal that? What do you think about using automotive silicone?

I'm also surprised that so much water is getting into the door. I think the water is coming in through the window seals, as there are small gaps in the lower corners. Perhaps I need to replace the window seals?

Hello,

This issue is very well known at Seat.
Dieselmartin and I were discussing this.

The sealing cord is available for purchase. Martin successfully used this method.
I used automotive silicone and it's been working very well so far, but I know that if I ever need to work on the doors again, it won't be as easy to remove.

Why don't you read a book?

When using silicone, be generous with it and only roughly wipe away any excess. This is the only way to ensure that everything is properly sealed.

Best regards, Jochen.

p.s. A search would also have been helpful in this case icon_smile.gif.

Okay, I'll try to get my hands on that sealing cord.

Can someone verify the part number? I tried to read it from the Seat Leon PDF.
