Seal Tandem Pump: How To & Best Practices

The tandem pump (pump-injector) in my Golf is leaking. Before I take it apart to have it repaired, I would like to understand exactly how it works.
I would appreciate any relevant information, whether it be drawings, explanations of functionality, specifications, or potential sources of error.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

It seems this problem occurs more often.
Meanwhile, there is a revised version with different seals.
'However, there apparently isn't a replacement seal available, so the entire pump needs to be replaced.'

Unfortunately, my injection pump is also getting wet, and the diesel is spreading as a very thin, creeping, and sticky film all over the engine . As far as I can tell, it is definitely diesel and not engine oil. Therefore, I would like to revisit Lothar's question and ask if anyone has already attempted to disassemble it. I am familiar with the operation of the pump from the SSP 209, but I have unfortunately never seen an opened pump.
It would be annoying if half of the contents spilled out when I open it... Does anyone have any photos or reviews?
Unfortunately, besides the seals between the fuel injection pump and the pump body, nothing else is available. Is it possible to permanently seal the pump itself using sealant? Which sealant would be best? It absolutely must be fuel-resistant.

Hello,

Sealing from the outside is not a problem! Simply remove the yellow zinc-plated lid.
Wipe off any diesel and make sure everything is completely verschandeln and free of grease (you can even reuse the old O-ring, just remove it and make sure everything is clean). Then, apply a thin layer of Reinzosil sealant all around the circumference, reattach the cover, and you're done!

No parts will fall out if you work carefully.

Don't use it to fill the gap, especially if you're not experienced with sealants. Silicone has no place here; there are sealant kits specifically designed for this purpose.
