Hello,
I have a Webasto Termo Top stationary heater with a timer. When the heater turns on, the automatic climate control switches to 'Auto,' which, in my case, is 22°C. Is there a way to change this setting to a higher temperature?
'Thank you.'

Hi.
I have an Eberspächer Hydronic, but that doesn't matter, it heats up quite a bit .
I always set my Climatronic to the maximum temperature (the display then shows 'HI' instead of the temperature). As far as I know, this fully opens the coolant control valve to the heater core, so that all of the coolant *must* flow through the heater core, resulting in maximum heating power for the interior. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this works best for me.
Regards,
Arnold.

It seems this behavior depends on the Climatronic firmware version. My system (C2.0.0) adopts the settings of the normal mode during heating. However, when defrosting, it prioritizes airflow to the windshield rather than the driver's feet (which is the intended behavior).
So, I set the temperature to 25°C, activated the 'ECON' mode, and then the whole system starts up in heating mode.

What's the problem? The system heats up fully until 22°C and then starts to regulate itself. Or do you find 22°C too cold in the car during winter when you get in?
The heating output is the same at an indoor temperature of 0°C, regardless of whether you have set it to 22, 25, or HI.

yes and no...
With heated seats (HI), all the heat is directed into the interior. At 22°C, only enough heat is used to maintain the temperature. Any additional heat is then lost through the side or rear windows. I'm familiar with this from my old car with manual heating.
The warmer the interior of the vehicle, the better the ice and snow will melt off.

It seems to really depend on the firmware.
My car also always defaults to 22°C in AUTO mode, even though I would prefer to set something more specific (e.g., less fan speed and only directing air to the windshield).

With HI, all heat is directed into the interior; at 22°C, only enough heat is used to maintain the temperature. Then, no more heat reaches the side or rear windows. I'm familiar with this from my old car with manual heating.

Even during a winter vacation with temperatures as low as -20°C, the setting at 22°C cleared the windshield and front side windows of ice. While it wasn't warm inside the car, the windows were clear.
'Even with 1 cm of snow, my windshield heater doesn't defrost the windshield at 0°C. The bottom layer melts, but everything else just collapses and stays on the windshield for about two-thirds.'

'You see, and when I drive with the accelerator fully pressed, the auxiliary heater defrosts ALL the windows, including the rear window, after 25 minutes of operation...'
and the interior is comfortably warm.
Therefore, I think it's great that my car remembers my settings .

I don't know how you tuned your heater, but I have a ThermoTopT with 5kW. I used to have it in my car, which didn't have climate control, and even then, it didn't produce significant results in extremely cold temperatures and snow, even when set to the maximum temperature and fan speed.
I know three other people who also own a Golf Variant TDI with a pre-installed heater, and they're experiencing the same thing. But, well, these are my experiences, and things might be completely different for others.

Okay, I wouldn't set the ventilation to the maximum setting. Turn the heating on, but keep the ventilation on level two.
Otherwise, the ventilation system will blow air continuously into your car, but this cold outside air cannot be sufficiently warmed up by the heat exchanger. Furthermore, the auxiliary heater probably struggles to bring the water temperature up to 90 degrees Celsius, especially at fan speed 4.
My ThermoTop C (also the 5kW model) was even able to completely defrost everything in my old Ford Scorpio.
When it's snowing, a windshield heater can only melt the bottom layer of snow because snow is a good insulator. (Otherwise, how would Eskimos survive in their igloos...) But the windshield wipers can then easily clear the rest.

Hello community,
I have a Sharan with a 110 HP TDI engine, manufactured in October 1998. The auxiliary heater has been causing problems for the past two years: for example, the battery and heating element have been replaced. However, my feeling is that it still doesn't heat 'as well as it used to.' My VW mechanic, whom I'm starting to lose faith in, told me that it was originally equipped with an Eberspächer unit.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.
a) How can I determine which type has been installed?
b) The workshop told me that the Eberspächer unit is not self-diagnosing. If there's a problem, you always have to start searching 'from the beginning.' Is that correct, or is there a diagnostic device that not every VW workshop has, but perhaps companies specializing in radiators might have?
c) I read a long time ago that you should set the Climatronic to 'HI' (high) in the evening (before the auxiliary heating starts) and increase the fan speed. Is that really true? I had always assumed that the auxiliary heating regulates itself.
d) As I mentioned, the heating element was replaced in December, and I am not satisfied with the heating performance. I am considering contacting Eberspächer directly. Has anyone had experience with that?
Thank you in advance for your answers!

hi,
I can't quite remember right now.
But I think it will adjust to 22°C when the auxiliary heater is turned on.
Since it's a climaautomatic system, it's not necessary to set it to 'HI,' and doing so can even be disadvantageous.
Because if the interior is already warm after a certain amount of time, the interior will still be unnecessarily heated.
I have a Lupo 3L with Climatronic and a Webasto Thermo Top E.
greetings

Hello, one more thing about the basic principle:
'As far as I know, the coolant control valve for the heater radiator is fully open, meaning that all of the coolant *must* flow through the heater radiator --> resulting in maximum heating power for the interior. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how it works best for me.'
Regards,
Arnold.
Okay, let me correct you on that.
The radiator will inevitably get warm because there is no longer a heating control system connected to it.
You're essentially just adjusting a vent to direct warm air into your car. The heater core then warms the air that flows past it.

hi,
I looked at it more closely again.
When the parking heater is activated (indicated by 'HE' on the display), the Climatronic system automatically sets itself to the last temperature that was set while the vehicle was in operation.
