Topic for Improvement Suggestions and Release History from CSV Log Viewer KDataScope.

What is KDataScope good for?
KDataScope is a program for viewing and quickly and easily reviewing and evaluating recorded VCDS, KOBD2Check, or GS-911 log files.

The KDataScope program is a user-friendly alternative to VAGScope, which offers the following advantages:
- Quickly find interesting measurement values through the variable zoom function.
- Automatic scaling of measurement curves.
- Measurement values as a tooltip for the cursor position in the log. - Delta cursor
- Create 3-D views (Map) from measurement curves.

Without conversion waste, without pointless clicking. No conversion or complicated configuration is required, nothing needs to be awkwardly imported from spreadsheets: Double-click on the log file, View!

Whether as measurement curves with and without zoom, as tabular numerical values, or for chip tuners to generate/identify 3D profiles.

Do you want to try KDataScope for free? Download KDataScope Demo Version!

Suggestions for improvement are welcome.

The current KDataScope version from Kaufmann Automotive is included in the "dieselschrauber VCDS Distribution" and the "RKS+CAN (KOBD2Check OBD2-Tool, KCANMonitor CAN Sniffer)" distribution, but can also be purchased separately.

Greetings, Rainer

Hello Rainer,

Not bad for the first shot:
what I personally miss, or would simplify the evaluation of measurement data:

- Zoom, scaling of the x and y axes
- the ability to work with two y-axes, for example, to see motor speed and conveying time, etc., in one diagram.
- The ability to toggle signals from the log file on/off in the graph, for example, to only display 3 out of 12 recorded signals.

That's why the thread cross is so useful, as it accurately displays the values of the selected signal.

Best regards,
Jochen

Hi Jochen,

Thank you for the tips! Zoom is already available, and with the left mouse button, you can draw a rectangle, and then zoom in on it (click the upper-left corner and drag with the left mouse button to the lower-right).
In the opposite direction (moving from the bottom right to the top left in the diagram) it zooms back out.

The x/y axis scales can be changed by clicking on the end value.

Best regards, Rainer

Zoom exists, but

Haha, when you know, it plays out so nicely like this, great!

You can change the x/y axis scales by clicking on the end value

Personally, I find that entering the new values using <TAB> or <enter> would be a bit better.
It's a bit strange that I have to click somewhere with the mouse first.
Well, I'm just used to MS-Windows...icon_wink.gif

But still, the program will be nice icon_biggrin.gif

Best regards,
Jochen

Hi Rainer,

On my laptop with Windows 98SE, the program often freezes (white window, "Open File" only works occasionally).

One of my .csv files, which seems to be difficult to process, is attached.

It seems like it has already been converted using the CSV converter, as far as I can see. Okay, no more proper CSV.

However, as it appears, it has already been converted using the CSV converter? So, no more real CSV.

Normal no... open (with Excel), saved as .xls, and then the .csv file goes directly into the laptop's trash.
From there, I dug them up again, but didn't change them. I always only get the .xls files to be processed further.

Hi Ulf,

the file contains periods and commas instead of commas and periods.
Of course, the program should not hang icon_smile.gif

Best regards, Rainer

Hi Rainer!

Cute toy icon_biggrin.gif

Personally, I would like to have the option to save as GIF.
Furthermore, it seems your tool doesn't like Group 0 logs.

Unfortunately, some people are dependent on group 0. icon_redface.gif

Hello Rainer,

This is definitely a very useful tool, considering how many mouse clicks are required to see some curves after a log flight...

Following are the bugs I found during a quick test (XP Professional with DELL D610, 1.6 GHz laptop):

1. Sometimes, the cursor gets stuck and appears undefined, usually on the mouse.
2. How do I exit Zoom mode? File refresh works...

Weitere desirable features:
1. Optionale Umrechnung von TV in (100-TV), um die Logik zu verbessern (z.B. kleines TV -> kleinerer LD, großes TV -> größerer LD). I always enjoy doing this here....
2. General file information would certainly be helpful (date, time, filename)

What do you mean by 1)? The 'crosshair' (cursor) should always seek the point that is closest to the mouse pointer.

Best regards, Rainer

Hello Rainer,

My error description with the undefined crosshair has disappeared. icon_biggrin.gif
(the real problem was behind the PC icon_redface.gif )

Unfortunately, I used a log file with very long pauses for testing the tool.
There are three sections containing data, with pauses inserted between them.
In the representation, the last data point from Section 1 is naturally connected to the first data point from Section 2 by a straight line.
However, since this line does not contain any data points, the crosshair 'jumps' over this line icon_exclaim.gif when transitioning from section 1 to 2.

With Zoom, it also works, you just need to know how. It would definitely be good to have it in the context menu (right-click menu) icon_smile.gif.

But I have another improvement idea:
For example, if you have logged 3 MWB, the screen will be quite full.
One should be able to individually enable or disable 'data tracks' in the legend using the mouse.
This is how you can extract the important data.

Edit: icon_redface.gif I only saw it later; the idea was already had by Jochen_145;

Best regards,
Cashier
