Hi.
Why does the Haldex oil actually need to be changed every 30,000 km? I recently changed it, and it looked like new. There wasn't any dirt or anything like that to be seen. The filter is supposed to be replaced after 60,000 km, but if not even a single speck of dirt is visible after 30,000 km, I don't really understand that. Is it perhaps just a recommendation from VW to keep the workshops busy and make money?
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"MFG" is an abbreviation for "Mit freundlichen Grüßen," which means "Sincerely" or "Best regards" in English. Audi SQ5 8R Cvub

Well,
The theory doesn't quite hold up, considering that the transmission fluid doesn't actually need to be changed regularly, and it's certainly a great way to make money.
Oil can wear down (and does so) without leaving any visible signs that you can immediately see with the naked eye. It shouldn't darken, as there's generally no material degradation or carbon buildup that the oil would wash away. However, if the oil has degraded without any visible dirt (what kind of particles were you expecting, honestly? If I found anything like that in my transmission/differential/drivetrain, I would be very concerned), you can't visually check its condition. The filter only catches the smallest particles, so any contamination is prevented from entering the system and causing issues.

Hi.
I also think this is a good idea, as oil can actually "degrade," it ages and can break down into its individual components.
Best regards, Rüdi.
P.S. I don't find this sensible, because Visco drives in Syncros were actually designed to last forever without oil changes, so this is a degradation.

I think that someone who can drive with a chip (tuning) might also be able to get good results with Haldex (all-wheel drive system).
The cost of repairing the damage will be more expensive than 10 oil changes.

I was just randomly browsing and came across this old post. I might be able to add some information about it now.
My Haldex oil was perfectly clean after the regular 30,000 km service, with absolutely no dirt or particles in it, just like you described.
The filter had now been in for 90,000 km (the TDI interval is 100,000 km - but since I don't change it outside of the service, I replace it every 90,000 km). I cut open the filter out of curiosity - it was already somewhat dark, and there was also some brass debris deposited in the rear section, presumably from the clutch packs.
In my opinion, it's absolutely necessary, especially when you consider that the oil in the Haldex system is constantly under stress – and a new Haldex unit costs more than ten times the price of an oil change with a filter.
