"Hi, my father has a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, model year 2001, 313CDI, and for some time now, the preheating indicator light has been coming on for a few minutes about 30 seconds after starting the engine. Also, the engine seems to have relatively low power since then. So, I thought I'd check it with OBD, but no luck. The connector for the KKL interface that I use for my Golf doesn't fit here, because Mercedes, of course, uses its own round connector, which is completely unnecessary. Well, it's not a huge deal to read the data just once, so I thought I could just clip it on with alligator clips. But on this car, every control unit has its own pin. I have the pinout information, also from OBD, but does anyone know if I need the K or the L wire?"
Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards, Thomas.

Hello,
If the preheating indicator light is illuminated or flashing, there is usually a problem with your glow plugs (one or more are defective), or with the preheating fuse/relay.
If there is an error in the engine control unit, the EDC warning light will illuminate.
Please check your spark plugs and the 80A fuse strip in the engine compartment.

I tried using this adapter with a Sprinter van manufactured in 1996, but it didn't work. Probably because that vehicle doesn't support OBD.

Is it expected... and is access possible via control unit address 01?
Best regards, Rainer.
