Hi.
Normally, rockfalls within the field of view are "very bad."
How do you assess the size of these three?
Can these free repairs under the partial casco insurance cover these damages, or do they only apply from a certain size/extent of damage?
Thank you.

To my knowledge, these are considered minor defects. I have a few of them on my windshield, and the technical inspection (TÜV) didn't mind. It would only be possible to repair the one on the far right, as the others are only superficial damage.

"Surface flaking" - I also received that comment.
After now 51000 km, I have a whole collection of these things on the windshield... - all of which are irreparable. For resin repair, it has to be something bigger with cracking.
In my opinion, this whole annoying "KRAACK" advertising is just a way to rip people off. Once you're in the workshop, they'll try to sell you a new windshield with all sorts of extras and unnecessary features.
Especially because the impact mark from the stone chip will still be clearly visible even after a resin repair. If the impact occurred in wet weather, the resin will also be washed away unless you immediately cover it with tape.
Regards,
Peter.
(I'm still hoping for a "big windfall" - then I'll get the "acoustic windshield" from the A3 facelift).

Okay, at "KRAACK," they didn't want to sell me a new windshield when I came in with a chip (similar to the one on the right in the picture). But I believe they don't do repairs in the driver's visibility area. However, they offer a warranty (I think it was 1 year) on the repaired area, guaranteeing that no cracks will originate from there. If they do, the windshield will be replaced. And mine has now survived its third winter. However, my windshield is now covered with these "chips."

Small, superficial chips like that rarely pose a risk of further cracking, but the wiper blade will leave streaks across the windshield from that point.
I would fill all three with filler resin and sand them smooth.
They won't completely disappear, though.
If you have glass insurance, wait for a larger impact and then have it replaced.
You could take a closer look at the profile of the trucks in front of you and search for stones .

Audi wrote: | Windshield with acoustic glazing and a gray color strip at the top edge, improved sound insulation of the windshield due to acoustic glazing and special film; reduction of noise levels inside the vehicle by up to 4 dB, visibility window for the vehicle identification number in the lower area.
Note: Only available when ordered in conjunction with thermal insulation glazing | .
Standard equipment for the "Ambiente" trim level, otherwise an additional charge of 105 euros.
"This wasn't present two years ago. And since I've insulated everything at the back (see "Garage"), I can say that the vast majority of the "residual noises" come from the front, specifically from the area around the splash guard or the windshield. When you're sitting in the back, it's noticeably quieter than in the front."

Pete.

Hm
Heat shielding kills anything that wants to receive GPS signals.
Okay, you have a built-in navigation system, but if you want to attach anything else to the dashboard, the metallized window film will create a seal.
Well... just 2 years and 9 months left...

"Are you sure? According to the brochure from that time, I already have "front windshield with thermal insulation glass and a gray colored strip at the top." Just not the "acoustic" version."
The thermal insulation doesn't affect the - after-installed - fixed navigation system, as its GPS antenna is hidden under the dashboard. I didn't install a roof antenna during the installation, also to prevent potential "thieves" from detecting the GPS antenna from a distance across the parking lot.
Regards,
Pete.

Hello!
There is also insulated glazing available without a metallic coating.
Windows with metal provide 100% shielding. Nothing, not even Sirf-III, can help with that. Only the area around the...
The rearview mirror (the black area) is excluded from this.
"Interestingly, the instruction manual mentions that you can find the option to do something right here."
involves the attachment of GPS receivers.
VW was unable to demonstrate a practical method for attaching a commercially available navigation device.
At least it's a good reason to request a navigation system with an extra Bluetooth mouse or a GPS relay antenna (both for a hefty price) from the fleet manager. You can then permanently attach them to that specific area...
