Hello,
I have a small chip on the right headlight of my Octavia, about the size of a one-cent coin. There's no hole in it, and the headlight isn't fogging up. My TÜV inspector classified this as a major defect. I just wanted to hear your opinions or experiences on this. Thank you very much.

Hi,
Since this damage affects the light-scattering properties of the headlight lens and thus influences the glare, it is a serious defect.
Best regards,

Yes, that's exactly it. I've had that problem before too... no TÜV (technical inspection). Gruß Bertil

The headlight lenses on my Golf are covered with countless tiny chips from stones, although they are quite small. Fortunately, no inspector has been overly strict about it so far.
You might have been lucky with a different examiner.
Best regards, D.

Hi,
I can't simply dismiss that statement. Whether the stone impact blinds the driver or merely irritates them depends on its exact location.
I have a piece of glass that was re-glued, and it's clearly visible because the adhesive has discolored, located in the area illuminated by the high beams. The TÜV inspector didn't say anything about it. Gruß Christian

At my inspection, they found a small chip in the turn signal... -> probably because they couldn't find anything else to complain about in a 10-year-old car and they have to meet a certain 'quota'... (besides a difficult-to-operate brake force distributor ).
