Skoda Fabia Engine Failure: Troubleshooting & Repair

Here's a topic I'm posting at your request, as it was asked for in the Ibiza forum. The car might be familiar to some from the Skoda community under the name 'pietsprock.'

The engine cannot be an AXR because the vehicle is too old. The AXR was only introduced from mid-2001 onwards. It must be an ATD.

If there are no error codes stored in the system's memory, then often the only remaining possibility is a problem with the power supply.
A common failure point in this system would be the main contactor relay (formerly known as Rel 109).
This test is quick and easy. Remove the relay and disassemble it. If something like what's shown in the attached image appears, then the fault has been found (torn solder joints).
However, ignition locks are also likely to fail with this mileage. Check as suggested by Rainer.

Another possible cause for intermittent faults is the PD cable harness. It should normally generate at least one entry in the error memory.

This engine does not have a knock sensor (as mentioned in the other threads).

The Fabia was thoroughly inspected by the workshop, and during the inspection, a part near the ignition switch, the engine speed sensor, and some other thermostat were replaced.

Initially, a fault in the PDU cable harness was suspected, but after inspection, this possibility was ruled out.

Now, the Fabia needs to be tested, with the hope that the error has now been resolved.
