Hello everyone.

First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone who contributes to making this forum so great and very helpful. icon_exclaim.gif I wish everyone a happy new year!!!
As it can be seen... I am a newcomer icon_cry.gif.
Okay, let's start with a brief introduction, and then we'll get straight to the actual problem.
My name is Reno, I'm almost 53 years young, and I've had my own workshop for ** years, where I mainly work on Harleys and Corvettes. For about a year now, I've also been working on more vehicles from the VW-Audi group. We have four of them in the family. Of course, I'm also a customer of Rainer Kaufmann. But enough about that, let's get to the topic. Of course, I'm still far from being an expert with the VCDS software, which leads me to the following question:

It's a vehicle belonging to a friend: Passat W8, year 2002, with a Tiptronic transmission.

I can't find the following codes on Ross-Tech WIFI, and my search here hasn't yielded any results either.

17606 - Bank 1, Sensor 2; Heating circuit: electrical fault.
P1198 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent.
17607 - Bank2-Sonde2; Heating circuit: electrical fault.
P1199 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent.

My acquaintance is also sending me the following information:

In my case, the problem only started after I replaced the oxygen sensors, and it reappears in the error memory approximately every 500 kilometers. Sometimes it shows as "fuel economy," and sometimes as "intermittent."

"The first workshop said they would 'regenerate' the sensors (laughter prohibited - *giggles*), but of course, that didn't do anything, and no one could tell me how they would even do that!"

The second workshop, during a re-engine overhaul, measured the sensors and wiring harnesses and supposedly found nothing.

The error will happen again.

"Workshop 1 always wants to replace the control unit – it's frustrating to be at a disadvantage when dealing with them!"

Okay, if you find a solution, I'm interested! Especially because it's not the probe signal itself, but the probe heater that's the issue!!!
"QUOTE-END"

I would be very grateful if someone could provide me with some information on this, as I am really in a difficult situation right now.

Best regards,

Reno.

Hello Reno, could it be that the probes are universal types that may have a different heating element, and that's why they are "causing issues" for the system? Can it be compared to the old days?

Hi,

If things go badly, some intermittent connections may only reappear after weeks or months.
The most comprehensive solution would be to replace the wiring and probes (new parts).
I myself have spent countless hours troubleshooting loose connections on my A3. Looking back, it probably would have been more sensible to replace the wiring directly instead of wasting time trying to fix it.

There is reason to believe, according to Klaus, that both probes are affected.

Best regards, Rainer.
