Gear oil for VW Polo 6N2

Hi! I reported about shifting problems at temperatures below 0°C some time ago.

Bei meinem Vw Händler hab ich nun heute in Erfahrung gebracht, das es keine Reparaturmaßnahme gibt (was mir gestern abend auch Michael II sagte), dieses Problem allerdings bekannt ist bei 5Gang Schaltungen. Als Abhilfe will man mir ein anderes Getriebeöl einfüllen, welches "wesentlich bessere Eigenschaften" haben soll. Es handelt sich dabei um das Produkt "taff 20" (ich weiß nicht ob es so richtig geschrieben ist!). Angeblich wird dieses vollsyntische Produkt in/ oder bei oldenburg produziert. Es is NOT an additive, but is the sole lubricant.
I can't find any information about this product online. That's why I'm asking: Has anyone had experience with this product before? Or has it ever been used by an official Volkswagen dealer to fix a problem?

It's likely that this is referring to 'TAF,' which stands for TransAxle Fluid and is designed for transmissions with an integrated differential, making it potentially suitable for Volkswagen vehicles as well.

I'm only familiar with gear oils from Castrol under that name, such as TAF-X or TAF-XS. The TAF-X is recommended because it even meets a VW standard and is a 75W-90 oil. In my old Golf 1, it noticeably improved shifting performance in cold weather.

Ich hab mir die Castrol Seite mal angesehen und auch das Taf-x gefunden. Wäre natürlich möglich, das der Servicemeister das verwechselt hat. Wäre aber eine ziemlich große Verwechslung zwischen X und 20. Naja. Jedenfalls hab ich noch mal bei VW angerufen unter der 0800er und denen das mal erklärt. Die haben dann auch noch mal nachgeforscht, konnten aber auch kein Taf 20 finden. Jedenfalls hat mir der gute man am Telefon noch mal die genauen Normen gesagt, die das Öl zu erfüllen hat. II will show the "instruction sheet" of the oil to someone tomorrow when they are filling it, and then we will see - or maybe not .

Also, für alle die es interessiert: Das vom VAG Meister mir nochmals als TAF 20 angepriesene Öl ist in Wirklichkeit das von Thomas vermutete TAF-X von Castrol. Ich war selbst mit in der Werkstatt dabei, als das Alte abgelassen und das Neue aufgefüllt (2,5l=33Euro) wurde, daher hab ich mir auch das Ölfaß ganz genau angesehen. Da war dann der Aufkleber drauf. Gebracht hats (entgegen anderen Berichten im Netz) bei mir leider nur seeehr wenig, Kratzen ist immernoch da. The vehicle will be taken back to the workshop tomorrow so that the technicians can themselves perform a test drive with a cold engine. I'll let you know what happens next.

So, jetzt mein (hoffentlich) letztes Posting in dieser Sache: Die Werkstatt hat den Synchronring und Synchronkörper für den zweiten Gang getauscht und anscheinend war die Sache erfolgreich. Habe den Wagen jetzt seit zwei Tagen wieder und das Kratzen ist (noch) nicht wieder aufgetreten. Lediglich beim Einlegen des 2ten Gangs ist jetzt eine etwas höhere Kraft nötig, was mich aber nicht stört. MuIt will probably take some time for everything to get back on track.
