Hello,

In our family, we have a Galaxy from 01/1998, and whenever it rains, the interior filter constantly gets wet, even though the cover is properly installed. This, of course, causes the windows to fog up. Otherwise, there is no water ingress.

Has anyone else experienced this? And more importantly, has anyone been able to find a solution?
Gruß

Without knowing the correct structure: Could there be a drainage system that is blocked? In many vehicles, the air intake for the interior is located near a water reservoir in front of the windshield. If the drainage outlets for this reservoir are blocked, the water will find another way to escape. Possibly, eventually, towards the filter.

Sicher? Window trim?

A loose windshield trim caused me quite a bit of trouble with my old A3.

Best regards, Rainer.

Where is the Galaxy's filter located?

Should it be G3/G4 on the intake side of the water tank, or G5/3C inside the climate control system (accessible from the interior)?

The outdoor version has the disadvantage that it collects leaves ON the filter, which can clog it. That's why I always had a mosquito net stretched over it.

Where does the galaxy have the filter?

Under the windshield wiper linkage, and simply horribly accessible from the engine compartment. icon_wink.gif

Hello,

I was able to take a look at it today. The processes are definitely free, and there's no water ingress. However, as mentioned before, the filter in this model is located below the wiper linkage in the engine compartment, and it's completely open at the top. At first, I thought a cover was missing, but it seems like one isn't intended to be there.

We now suspect that the activated carbon filter is the cause, as it seems that in the older A-Class models, they switched back to filters without activated carbon for that reason.

Are you aware of any retrofit solutions that involve some kind of cover, regardless of its design?

Perhaps you could build a cover or enclose the area directly above the filter? Wherever the air needs to pass through (whether it's the hood or some kind of grille), you should probably shield that area from direct rain.

Here are some nice pictures related to the pollen filter:

http://sgaf.de/viewtopic.php?t=38480

The 'konstruct' pollen filter/frame/housing system was also used until 2010.
hasn't changed, and I'm hearing this for the first time now.
Is something wrong with you guys? Our Sharan hasn't had any [maintenance/service] for 3 years.
Had condensation on the windows - despite using activated carbon filters.

Okay, so if there's no known fault in the climate control system or any other water ingress into the vehicle.

Note: The water deflector, which is the removable bridge plate.
However, it has undergone various improvements over the years.
It used to be 7M3 819 532 E, then ...D, then from 2002, ...532 F, and since 2005, ...532 H.
Index G was also initially replaced with F and then with H.

Unfortunately, this 'good' item costs a whopping 130 euros icon_wink.gif.

'Or is the sealing gasket at the bottom of the water tank simply missing?'

Thank you.

We will check the pictures again to make sure nothing is missing.
It's a shame that the sheet metal is so expensive. You probably wouldn't buy it just based on a hunch...

Perhaps there's a damaged 2005 vehicle available at the nearby recycling center?

Luckily, we already had a 2005 model from that year.

Or you could check if water is seeping in below the filter, possibly through the seal between the water tank and the plastic housing that holds the filter.

The Golf IV has a foam-like or PU seal in that area, which becomes leaky after a few years. As a result, rainwater can leak from the water reservoir into the ventilation system.

"On some Sharans (Galaxy/Alhambra), I recall seeing that the plastic part for the IRF (presumably a sensor or module) was partially covered, specifically about 7 cm on the right-hand side, facing forward."
Installing the EOLO filter can be quite stressful and tight, but it's supposed to clear more quickly and not fog up for as long as the folded activated carbon pollen filter. The filter material is flat but thicker.

Just wanted to give you an update:

The filter in the relevant Galaxy unit has now been replaced with a model that does not contain activated carbon. Condensation has been completely eliminated since the change. It is possible that the cover from the newer models will also be installed.
