Hello fellow diesel mechanics.

The following problem:

Passat, year 2005, 2.0 TDI engine (engine code: BKP), stalled while driving.
and it hasn't started since then.

Error code 17925 P1517.
Main relay, electrical fault in the circuit.
Short circuit to ground, static.

Where is the relay hidden?

Best,
Michi

I don't know the error code off the top of my head.

It could be plugged into the body control module (located on the left side, under the steering wheel). The large relays on the far left or far right are responsible for distributing power to terminals 15 and 75. It might be the one for terminal 15. If that's the case, then very few other things that normally only work with the ignition should be functioning (e.g., the interior fan).

Or in the e-box in the engine compartment (next to the battery). Depending on the version (hi-box / low-box), there are different relays inside. As a diesel driver, you probably have the low-box. It only contains two relays, or one relay and a jumper wire. Take a close look at both of these.

It's also possible that a fuse has blown.

Which VAG-COM / VCDS version are you using? Does it not display any further information or error messages?

Regards,
Guste.

Thank you for the quick response.

Okay, I've checked all the fuses multiple times.
There is only a relay on the fuse box in the engine compartment.
and that turns it on.
I will check the relays labeled 'Class 15' and 'Class 75' on Monday.

I don't have a VAG tool; unfortunately, I only have an AVL DiTest.

Best regards,
Michael.

SO errors found!

It was a defective fuel injector (short circuit).

Best regards,
Michael
