Occasionally, the mounting point on the engine block for the passenger-side bracket breaks on various TDI engines (such as Golf 4 and similar models, including ALH engines, etc.). I came across the following information online by chance:

'Looks good - trying it is definitely better than getting a new engine (block). 6061-T6 is good material, and I can remember many homemade repair brackets I've made over the past 40 years, using inferior materials. They all held up, but they didn't look as nice as this solution.'
