Golf 3 AEX Idle Problems "Resolved"

Hi.

I have a Volkswagen Golf 3 with a 1.4-liter, 60 horsepower AEX engine that I got from my old neighbor.

He has idling problems, and the error codes stored are:

"Idling speed control adaptation limit exceeded."

I removed the throttle body, cleaned it thoroughly, and used the 1551 tool to perform a basic throttle adjustment.

While it's running more smoothly than before, the underlying issue remains, and the idle speed with a warm engine is around 1200 RPM.

What do the experts recommend?

Okay, all done, everything's running smoothly again.

The temperature sensor for the MSG was giving a reading of only ~40°C when it was actually ~90°C. I installed a "new" one from stock, re-calibrated the throttle, cleared the error codes, and it was working fine.
