Hi,
I finally got the donor leg struts for the conversion of the 280mm FSIII.
Got the 288mm FN3 brake system installed.
"The brake discs are quite rusty, and the pads are also..."
I destroyed everything, even though they were in their best years.
With the brake discs and pads installed, the wheel bearings rotated smoothly and evenly (without any wobbling or noise).
To avoid damaging the bearings, I removed the discs using a three-arm puller that was supported on the hub.
However, the warehouses feel a bit strange now.
They don't spin perfectly smoothly, and the hub also wobbles (although it has been wobbling since the brake pads were removed). icon_confused.gif

Did I damage the bearings when removing the discs, or is that normal?
Is the pre-tension missing from the drive shaft?

Best regards,
Micha

"Please tighten the bearings properly and re-run the test. Then you can provide a more accurate assessment. Without pre-tensioning, the bearings are already making some noise."

"Due to repeated adjustments, the rear inner ring of the RL hub has become detached from the wheel hub, which isn't a major problem. Simply follow Bertil's instructions: insert the axle, tighten it, and then try wiggling/rotating it again."

I think the question has just been answered.
Wheel bearings at the local parts store cost 20€ and are sold unassembled.
It can be easily changed at the press.
Before I put all this stuff together, I just want to make sure that the wheel bearings are actually...
Since it's already close to the end of its lifespan and everything will have to be taken apart to replace it, I'll just change it now.

Thank you very much for your support.

Best regards,
Micha

"And before installation, it's also a good idea to check the ABS sensors... they tend to fail on Octavias... I actually replaced one on mine just today... and it's much easier to remove when it's properly seated and you have to pry it out."

The resistance was 1030 ohms for the intact component, and infinite (open circuit) for the defective one.

I try to replace the filters regularly whenever possible. They're not really expensive, and it just gives you peace of mind.
And furthermore, you could also offer a guarantee on the work.

It's almost the same as a timing belt and water pump replacement. It's not strictly necessary, but it's a good idea to replace it at the same time.
Not least, it increases revenue.

There is always a risk of damage to the inner ring when re-pressing.
