Hi,
I had a Caddy (first registered in May 2010) on Friday.
trying to convince the comfort system to...
Also, here's the translation:

"Even when unlocking with a key, all doors and the tailgate will open."
to open. The bits, which I thought might be related to something.
The actions that were taken, which could have potentially led to success, did not result in a positive outcome.
Does anything else need to be changed besides the comfort system?
or does it not work at all in the end?

Best regards & thank you very much.

Micha.

Please provide the scan so I can translate it for you.

Hello,

I've never tried that feature before; isn't it normal for everything to be open/closed with the key?
"What exactly remains attached, just the tailgate? For example, on the Audi A3 8PA, there's a lock symbol on the plastic piece underneath the latch on the tailgate..."

Best regards, Rainer.

Caddy Family, newly registered and with Belgian papers: When you press the remote control for the first time, only the driver's door opens; when you press it again (within a few seconds), the rest of the doors open.

Perhaps that's what the questioner is referring to?

I just checked, and unfortunately, behind the lock icon there's only the emergency unlock function.

Best regards, Rainer.

You can configure this through the extended coding assistant. Set it to open individual doors, open all doors, and leave the tailgate closed. When starting off, only lock the tailgate.

I'll take a look. I have two log files from Caddys on my computer; I can check them out when I get home.

Hey guys,
First of all, thank you for your support!
The behavior of the Caddy is as follows:
With the folding key (also known as a remote keyless entry), all doors and the tailgate open (or close when locking).
(again).
With the second key (which doesn't have a feedback button because the seller was too [insert adjective here] to mention it),...
that a second key fob costs €15 when ordered from the factory, and not €120 as it would if ordered later.
You open the driver's side door completely. If you then want to let your family in, you have to get in yourself.
Turn the ignition on and then press the unlock button.
The desired outcome is now that all doors open when the key is turned.
I came across a thread on MT (presumably a forum) that, according to rumors, mentioned something starting in May 2007.
The door lock was designed without a contact sensor, which means that despite proper coding, it will always...
Only the driver's door is opened.
What seems strange to me is that closing all the doors with a key icon_confused.gif works.
"If I recall correctly, there was only one contact point (at least in the G-IV generation)."

Best regards,
Micha

Okay, I didn't know that. Since we also have someone who only has one FFB key and a 2009 model year, I'll test it out.

IIRC gab es (zumindest bei der G-IV Generation) nur einen Kontakt.

Hello Micha,

I'm afraid I have to disappoint you: you are mistaken. In the fourth generation of the Golf, there are always three contacts: unlocking, locking, and door opening contact.

How would the control unit even know whether you want to open or close it if it only has one contact?

You are partially right because everything is integrated into a single unit. However, it was (especially with models like the Golf IV, Passat 3BG, etc.) a common practice to replace the individual microswitches or resolder the connections in the locking module instead of replacing the entire unit, which would be much more expensive.

According to my information, the control panel also has all three switches. In addition, there are two switches for the motors: one for "Up/Completed" and another for "Safe/Not Safe."
Unlike systems like G4 and others, the Caddy only uses a single cable for the up/down signal to the control unit. The distinction is made via a resistor within the locking module.

Have you checked the MWB (presumably a specific database or system) to see if the opening and closing of locks with a key is being correctly recognized?

Best regards,
Hendrik.

Hi Hendrik,
Too bad that...
It's likely that my conclusion stemmed from the fact that all microswitch repair manuals...
the same switch is always being replaced icon_confused.gif
The others apparently don't break as often.
The up/down function worked with a contact on my old G3 FFB as well. If, in the meantime...
When the power went out once, in the worst-case scenario, something was switched off that shouldn't have been.
I haven't watched MWB yet.

"@Matthias: When you're testing, please try to see what happens if you hold the key down for a longer period."
as it remains in the "open" position for two seconds.

Best regards,
Micha

Sure, I can do that when the colleague comes back with it... I guess the windows will go down?

Hi Micha,

Yes, I'm familiar with that from FFBs as well. However, the door locks I know always lock in one direction (usually clockwise on the driver's side, if I recall correctly) and unlock in the other direction (usually counter-clockwise on the driver's side, if I recall correctly).

If there were only a single switch, the direction could potentially reverse due to a voltage drop. However, this would create a conflict between the central locking system's control and the mechanical key rotation (which also mechanically affects the individual door).

Wiesel wrote:
MWB habe ich mir noch nicht angesehen.

I see this as the primary starting point. For example, if the on/off switch for the microphone or the resistor (if it's connected in series with the switch when "on" and not when "off") is defective from the factory, then your Caddy's behavior would be normal.

Greetings.
Hendrik.

Yes, the windows go down, and they go down exactly as far as I want them to.
That's definitely the case with my Caddy.

And if I press the "up" button on the remote control and hold it down for a longer period, the windows will close completely. However, if I release the button before they are fully closed, they will stop where I want them to.

Okay, I just took a measurement on the car...
When the key is held down for a longer period, nothing happens. The windows don't move, and neither do the other [controls/features].
Doors remain closed.
"I can't access the comfort control module without turning on the ignition, and the switch function is..."
However, you can read out the module control unit (IIRC 005) for the driver's side door.
It detects both shooting and opening icon_exclaim.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif.
Therefore, it should be possible to open the other doors.
The coding is 48 (mirror heating 32 + automatic operation active 16).
Is the "automatic mode" feature simply about opening and closing the windows without any other functionality?
Do I have to hold the button down the whole time?

Best regards,
Micha

Hello Micha,

The behavior you described regarding the unlocking mechanism seems normal at first; it's the same on the A3. Therefore, there likely isn't a faulty switch or similar component.

I'm going to check it out on the box; we don't have much pressure here because we have 2 remote keys icon_smile.gif.

Best regards, Rainer.
