Climate compressor making noise

Hi,

'On my 2005 Caddy with a 1.9 TDI engine, the AC compressor is likely making some strange noises. It's a fairly loud metallic clacking sound that occurs sporadically shortly after starting the engine, regardless of whether the Climatic system is on or off. The Climatic system itself was working... until yesterday.'

'I briefly removed the right inner fender to check which brand of compressor was installed. I then also removed the ribbed belt, started the engine for a short time (without the belt), and let it run for a minute or two. Finally, I put everything back together.'

This morning, the heating stopped working and couldn't be turned off or adjusted at all (which was great in this heat).

Is there any connection between running the engine without the serpentine belt and error messages appearing on the Climatic system?
