Hello everyone!

After the accident repair (complete dashboard and air distribution housing with all flaps, etc.) on my Passat 3B model from 1999 with Climatronic, the pressure flap is making noises. All actuators are working correctly. The regulation of the opening cross-section is speed-dependent. As the vehicle's speed increases, the flap closes slightly. When braking to a stop, it opens again. Apparently, manufacturing tolerances in the flap or the seal between the flap and the housing are responsible for the noise, even with the original VW replacement part (!!!). The noises also occur when the recirculation flap is closed or opened using the corresponding switch. According to the 'official' Volkswagen service center, a replacement is not directly feasible due to the complete removal of the instrument panel and other extremely high labor costs.
Okay, here's the question:

Can the diagnostic system be used to modify the end positions of the valves, for example, by defining an opening of 98% as 'closed'? If so, through which channels and how?
During automatic adjustment, the end stops are automatically moved and saved. Perhaps there's a possibility of placing a small piece of plastic or cardboard between the flap and the housing, through the pollen filter opening, during the automatic adjustment process.
Does that make sense? Or do you have any better suggestions?

Sure, here's the translation:

'Thank you very much in advance!'

Regards,

Piradel.

You shouldn't attempt to reprogram the limit switches, etc. It's normal for this valve to make a slight creaking sound when it's opened or closed after many years of use, and this doesn't necessarily indicate a defect.

Here are some things you could do to extend the life of this glove compartment motor: Remove the glove box and verschandeln and re-lubricate the hinge points, motor, etc. The grease used by VW tends to harden over time. This will make it easier for the motor to operate. Also, regularly replacing the dust/pollen filter prevents dirt from entering the system.

'On my old Golf 4, the actuator motor was defective. Just the motor itself cost almost €100, and then there's the installation cost on top of that. It was incredibly expensive.'

Hi Julian!

Thank you for the quick response.
However, the entire climate control unit (air distribution box or whatever it's called), including all actuators, is brand new and is making these noises. Adjusting the end stops makes sense, I think. Imagine a flap with a rubber lip for sealing. The flap moves to its end position and closes. However, due to the elasticity of the rubber lip, it continues to move slightly further and produces these creaking noises. Therefore, reprogramming (pre-adjusting) the end positions would make sense in order to minimize the noise level.

Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Piradel.

Then you must contact Hella/Valeo directly for the reprogramming of the control unit. icon_wink.gif
