I'm curious to know if the engine control units enter sleep mode when I turn off the engine and then don't remove the key from the ignition.
Vehicle: VW Caddy, year 2008, 1.9 TDI.
Background: The vehicle is brought to the workshop in the evening, and my colleagues don't remove the key; they simply leave it in the ignition.
The ignition switch "switches" again when I remove the key, for example, turning off the radio and turning on the interior light.

Best regards, Thilo.

Hi, I'm not entirely sure, but I think they only sleep properly when the car is completely locked.

The situation is likely to occur more often, and I doubt that it wasn't considered during the development process.

Clarity likely only comes from exhibitions.

If the Caddy has survived one night already, they're probably going to sleep.

My Passat was completely drained of power after a night during which I had the VCDS cable connected but the car locked.

He's even managed to survive that for 3 years icon_smile.gif.
Yes, I followed your thread, but I wasn't completely sure about it.

The second point is that my father also experiences the same issue with his Ford at work, and I've been having a starting problem with it. Replacing the 6-month-old battery helped, but the problem hasn't completely disappeared.

That's right. If you don't sleep in a car like that, you usually reach your limit after about 10 hours.

I wouldn't have expected this much.
But thank you so far, I'm quite a bit smarter now icon_cool.gif.
