DPF Full: 3.0 TDI (ASB/CDYA) - When to Replace?

The 2.0 xPD corks are considered "full" with a weight of 60g and can therefore be used as replacements.
Roughly speaking, at around 200,000 km, you can expect to have to dig deep into your pockets.

What is the limit for the 3.0 TDI ASB/CDYA engine? (The label file doesn't specify this, unlike with the 2.0 engines).

This question mainly arises when buying a used car, especially if the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) needs to be replaced just 2 months after the purchase.

If the DPF is due for replacement soon, one could try to negotiate the vehicle price down by the cost of the replacement and then have the cleaning done oneself.

"Flush it out! Mine needs an additive change every 120,000 km, and I've had it done twice, then flushed. I didn't even have to remove the catalytic converter; I just tilted the thing upright and backwards, used a bucket of water, aimed from a high position, and poured a lot in quickly. I also tried using a Kärcher pressure washer once, but you have to be careful with the distance, and the flow rate and speed within the catalytic converter aren't ideal. A garden hose nozzle works just as well."

Using the Gardenamethode, I achieve the same differential pressure values as new, or as the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) automatic transmission (AT) filters, even with the same rotational speeds/mass airflow rates and air temperatures.

My second filter was also just an AT filter. Now, with the pre-cat in another vehicle, it's likely seen an estimated 400,000 km since its first service (120,000 km, where the service is officially taken over), and the exhaust is either spotless or, more likely, has rust deposits from the system in the stainless steel end pipes. I flush it out every 60,000 km. That way, you can save the 400€ for an AT filter or the 800€ for a new OEM one.

Experiences will show how long filter elements without additives should last, but I can only provide information for a filter that cleans at an ignition temperature of approximately 500°C.
