Post21-01-2013, 19:43    Subject: Underbody Protection for VW Golf 5 Quote

So, during the last inspection, the workshop severely damaged my underbody protection. I wanted them to replace it with a new one, and after a bit of discussion, they agreed to do so today.
Probably, someone drove over it. Of course, no one told me; I only noticed it a few days later when I was changing the oil.

Okay, so they're now trying to tell me that the underbody protection has been modified.
and that the old, large part for MY model (!) was no longer available.
There would only be a new license plate number for my vehicle, and it would be this "economy" version, which I'd like to show you in a picture.
The new version has two "dust insertion nozzles" (I can't think of a better way to describe them) directly in the airflow from the front - the purpose of which is completely unclear to me - furthermore, the new "economy" version obviously has no sound insulation whatsoever, and in my opinion, has several other drawbacks.

Can someone explain to me what kind of nonsense they're trying to pull on me now?
I had a long discussion about that with the guy who works at the spare parts store.

What is the name of your spaceship?

1K0 825 235 AE is for gasoline engines!

AD or AG models are more likely to have a TDI engine.

It's not called an "undercarriage protection" because it doesn't protect the undercarriage.
This is sound insulation.

Definitely wrong... and half the price of the (correct) one for the TDI.

Let me check my 1.9 TDI, manufactured in 2008...

"The 'holes' are NACA nozzles, and my Passat has them too."
Cooling of the transmission - I think.

Here's a nice NACA duct (in the roof).

The larger one is for diesel models, while the shorter one is for gasoline models. The ventilation slots are for cooling the transmission, and mine, an ARL, also has the larger one.

Edit: The gasoline version still has aluminum heat shielding, while the diesel version does not, because the gasoline engine has the exhaust pipe in the front and the diesel engine has it in the back.

You start to wonder if there are only idiots left – honestly, it's really infuriating. And the guy from the spare parts warehouse had the nerve to ask me what I had learned and if I was a mechanic...
It's good that I can sleep on it for a night.

Okay, and next time, please provide the information clearly and legibly, including the type of vehicle, year of manufacture, engine type, and motor specifications. If you want us to know something, it's your responsibility to provide the necessary information. We don't want to have to search through your profile to find it.
Perhaps the "Sw..." thought something similar?

If all else fails, come up to me on the B10 and then send your (un)friendly acquaintance a bill icon_smile.gif.

Interestingly, ALL 3C TDI models, including the 105 hp BlueMotion versions, have the same "diaper."

So, everyone has NACA nozzles.

The 1K models don't have them, not even with the 140 horsepower engine.

Okay, I'll keep it short...
If no mechanic from the workshop happens to be available...
and to put an end to the argument.
It would have turned out badly - for everyone, including me.
When I feel like I'm in the right, I can be quite rude.
I then had the large protection, which actually shouldn't...
According to them, I should have received something for my car.

Did they try to substantiate "their opinion"?

I imagine a shared view of their parts computer. I believe that my icon_biggrin.gif has precisely documented YOUR version of it - as evidenced by my contributions here - and I also have the large one for the Golf.

Or is a look at the parts catalog for your workshop already considered confidential information?

All in all, a rather strange club... and incredibly brave of the mechanic to get involved icon_wink.gif.

I must mention a small point that could potentially redeem your workshop:
Even their software sometimes has fatal errors.
While I was working on my G3 TDI, I needed new screws for the intake manifold (they have crimped U-washers, about 10mm in diameter).
VW supplied the exact part number specified, but it came with washers that were approximately 40mm in diameter. It was impossible to install the part under any circumstances. There was an error in the system. Fortunately, my workshop recognized the problem, helped to find a solution, and didn't just refuse to proceed.

I think I'll take a trip to your workshop and bring my Golf (manufactured in 2007, first registration in 2008, TDI model). Muahahahaha icon_twisted.gif

Yes, Martin, unfortunately, the ETK (electronic parts catalog) provides incorrect information about the coverage, and those who don't do their own repairs have no idea what's going on.
But the matter is now settled and closed.

Do you still have the wrong damper?
