All part numbers with "D" or "M" will be replaced free of charge in SX models (up to 103 kW).

Yesterday, my 2008 Passat, with a BMA engine and 165,000 km on the odometer, broke down.

I strongly recommend that everyone replace the glow plugs and the valve cover gasket at the same time during this service. I examined the old glow plugs and tested them on our dynamometer at the company. Three of the plugs showed a significantly delayed heating time, and two of the plugs had a temperature approximately 300K lower than a reference plug.
While the pens are monitored via diagnostics, this monitoring only detects complete failures.
After 165,000 km on the highway, they were worn out.

However, it remains to be seen whether this will improve the starting behavior.

I'm looking forward to improved cold noise performance, a reduced tendency for dropouts, and a noticeably more harmonious torque delivery.

I would highly recommend that every PPD driver call their local dealer and inquire about their VIN.
