Increase Engine RPM with VCDS (Boost Leak)

Hello,

My Turbo (Golf) has been making a loud noise under load since yesterday - it just started suddenly when I accelerate.

When the device is stationary and unloaded, there's naturally nothing to hear... (or maybe a slight hissing sound - I might just be imagining it).

Is there a way to use VCDS to set the engine speed to approximately 2300 RPM for troubleshooting, and then hold it steady so I can get under the car and locate the leak?

There's some oil leakage visible at the transition point to the LLK (likely referring to a specific component), and the seals are approximately 215,000 km old. Some of the connecting pieces don't feel quite as tight as they should.

Turbo has approximately 25,000 kilometers on the odometer.

By default, it increases the RPM during the N75 test to around 1500 RPM. During this process, the VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) is alternately closed and opened, which also results in a slight build-up of boost pressure. Maybe this is enough for you.

Otherwise, reboot the system.

2300 RPM probably won't be possible (I'm sure of it with the EDC15).
But try the basic setting in the MWB 11: For (the not-so-old) EDC15 systems, the engine is brought to 1400 rpm, and the turbocharger is activated in a 10-second cycle to achieve maximum boost pressure. And approximately 0.1 - 0.2 bar of pressure whistling out of leaks is already quite noticeable .

Without any load, a significant amount of boost pressure will not be generated. My suggestion would be to install plugs in the charge air path and pressurize it to 1.2 bar. As a quick solution, you could use wood drill bits from a hardware store to cut out a thick wooden disc, drill a hole in the center, and insert a tire valve. I believe there were other construction guides and dimensions available in the forum for this (use the search function).

Caution: Risk of injury if the plugs are not securely fitted.

Then drill a hole and insert the Schrader valve.
