I have a Touran 1.9 TDI and I would like to...
Turn off my auxiliary heater, or prevent the auxiliary heater from turning on.
It activates every time the vehicle is started.
The auxiliary heater has been upgraded to a parking heater (Webasto kit).
I don't want it to happen when I have extremely frequent short-distance operation.
that the auxiliary heater turns on and off repeatedly (x times).
I prefer to start the auxiliary heater using the dedicated button for it.

Now I have it set up with VCDS (the latest version).
introduced:

Initial state: Vehicle OFF, auxiliary heating OFF, ignition ON.
  1. Control unit selection - "18-inch heated seats".
  2. "Select Adjustment - 10".
Set channel number to "06"... ("From", "Read").

  3. There should be a "1" displayed where it says "saved value".
"The auxiliary heating function is activated."
  4. In this field, enter the value "new value" = "0".
  5. Click on "Test" and then click on "Save".

"Auxiliary heater no longer in automatic mode."

BUT:
When I read channel 6, the value displayed already includes a zero.
However, the auxiliary heater still turns on when I start the vehicle.
start.

Did I tune into the wrong channel?
Can the auxiliary heater in a diesel engine be completely disabled using VCDS?

Or is it not possible to deactivate the auxiliary heater in diesel vehicles using VCDS at all?

At least in the Passat 3C, it can no longer be deactivated via VCDS for diesel models.
In the initial models from the 2006/7 production year, it could still be deactivated using the "ECON" button on the Climatronic system. However, starting with the 2008 production year, the button was renamed to "AC," and this prevented any control over the auxiliary heater.

I suspect the same applies to turkeys.

Greetings.
Sure.

Here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Guste" means "gust" in English. It refers to a sudden and strong gust of wind.

I suspect it will be similar with turkeys.

Oh wow, that doesn't sound good at all.
The turkey is from batch EZ 04/2010. The way you're writing it, it probably won't be possible. Too bad, because that might not be good for the auxiliary heater...
Thank you for your feedback!

Regards,
Andreas

Our Touran from 2009 has a "Climatic" system, not a "Climatronic."
In that case, it is sufficient to set the fan switch to position 0.
Then the auxiliary heater will not start.

I hope this helps.
Best regards, gnash.

Probably very little, because there would be no air exchange in that case.
How is the auxiliary heater connected to the rest of the electrical system? If it's not controlled through the control units, perhaps there's a hardware solution involved?
Have you ever looked into the coding options available in the control units for climate control, auxiliary heaters, and central electronics?

Hi!
I recently consulted with someone here about installing a supplementary heater in my T4, and they needed to understand the entire electrical system and control unit.
It's controlled by a separate temperature sensor mounted on the front bumper of my T4; I believe it activates below 5°C. And under other conditions as well...
I read somewhere that you can manipulate the signal from the temperature sensor using a switch to disable the auxiliary heater.

Perhaps this will help you, as a suggestion for more targeted research.
Grüße, Steffen!

Well, then the windows will fog up on the inside, which isn't great. icon_rolleyes.gif

Okay, since the auxiliary heater has already been upgraded for use as a pre-heater, you would need to disconnect the activation signal from the vehicle's control unit to the auxiliary heater. This way, the auxiliary heater will only operate through the pre-heating system, which automatically functions like an auxiliary heater when the engine is running, simply providing warmth.

Or, as Steffen writes, you can trick the external sensor into reading a higher temperature by using a switch. I'm not sure if that will work with the Turthahn device, but it might be worth trying!

This way, the pre-heating function/auxiliary heater will only work through the main heating system, which automatically functions like an auxiliary heater when the engine is running, simply providing warmth.
T3Surfer wrote:

In the Touran and other vehicles manufactured from a certain year onwards, there are no longer individual wiring harnesses leading to the auxiliary heater. Instead, the climate control system (Climatronic) and the auxiliary heater communicate via CAN bus. Through this communication, the auxiliary heater receives information such as the outside temperature, whether the engine is running, and whether the heated seats (STH) have been manually activated via the controls on the Climatronic.
In short: If you disconnect the CAN bus, the auxiliary heater will still function somehow.

Or, as Steffen writes, to trick the external sensor into thinking it's at a higher temperature by using a switch.} I unfortunately don't know if that will work with the Turthahn - try it! }
The outside temperature sensor used for the auxiliary heater is the same one that is used for the display in the instrument cluster and for controlling the climate control system.

If you artificially increase the temperature reading by +6°C when the actual outside temperature is -10°C, the Climatronic system will heat less accordingly. Over a long period, this will be compensated for by the I-parameter of the control system, but the reduction in comfort will be significant.

So, it's not that simple. There's a module from Bronken.de that can disable the auxiliary heater function on the MFL (multifunction leather steering wheel) using a keyboard shortcut. (It probably just sets the undervoltage threshold to something like 15V. This disables both the auxiliary heater and the STH [heated seats]. When you press the STH button, it automatically resets to the original setting.) I don't have any personal experience with it, but it should work.

That shows that the module must be intelligent and, depending on the need, should actually either block or enable the entire heat pump/auxiliary heater combination.

An alternative would be to disconnect the power supply to the starter motor. However, this should only be done before starting the engine. If the starter motor is already running, it will prevent the normal operation and could be damaged. Alternatively, you could build something semi-intelligent yourself. But it's not as simple as it used to be.

Greetings.
