Hello everyone,
So far, I've been able to find what I need using the search function, but here's my first question. I hope you can help me.
I want to replace a differential pressure sensor in an Audi A4 8K, manufactured in 2008. It will then need to be programmed using diagnostic tool 01, coding II, address 11.
(produces an occasional, implausible value)
Unfortunately, it's not available for me; the field is grayed out.
VCDS is up to date.
Is it related to the software version of the engine control unit?
Does the sensor absolutely need to be paired, or would it work without it?
I'm attaching a snippet from SCAN 01. Maybe someone can tell at a glance whether it's a software issue or something on my end...
Address 01: Engine Control Module.
Label file: RKS\03L-906-022-CAG.clb
Control unit part number: 03L 906 022 JM. Hardware: 03L 906 022 B.
Component and/or version: R4 2.0L EDC, part number H01 3173.
Encoding: 0104002C18072920
Thank you for your help.

Security Access or Login.
"It used to work well with pre-training, and it still works that way, but it takes some time."

Hello Rainer,
Thank you for the tip. Unfortunately, I didn't write that. I had already accessed it using Login 16, and then I used the PIN from the tooltip in VCDS.
Both of these are accepted, but they still do not unlock the II 11 coding.
I'll try that again and give you some feedback.
If necessary, we'll switch to a different approach, but the adaptation process might take longer.

If the login code is accepted and resets the differential pressure sensor, then that's it. The grayed-out button has nothing to do with it; your control unit simply doesn't support that function.
Best regards, Rainer.

16-06-2015, 20:58 Subject: Resetting: Basic Settings & Forced Regeneration |
Quote |

Today, I installed the new sensor.
Subsequently, it was initialized with the basic settings (or at least, I believe it was).
There is a section for adapting the differential pressure sensor, as well as a function to reset the learned values for the differential pressure sensor.
The first option was probably the right one. In any case, the device is now working correctly again -- the error memory is empty.
I wanted to perform a service reset afterwards, but unfortunately, that didn't work.
Initial unlocking requires login 16 in control unit 01.
Then, with the default settings, the "Service regeneration, particulate filter" option was selected.
(Everything is green, but it's not starting.)
It's certainly not strictly necessary in my case, but I would still be interested in knowing why it doesn't work.
Requirements:
Fuel tank full.
Water temperature: 80 degrees.
Engine started, and the engine control unit shows no error codes.

Hello Rainer,
I had already tried the steps mentioned in the link, so it should have worked even without any issues.
It's possible that an environmental parameter was not configured correctly.
I might try again, but the measured soot value is 4 g, while the calculated soot value is 6 g, so I think it's probably not worth pursuing.

Hello everyone,
I hope you can help me.
I would like to configure a differential pressure sensor.
- Ignition ON, Engine OFF.
- VCDS -> 01 - Engine -> Coding II
Entered the login code (30605) from the VCDS tooltip.
Then I get the following error messages: VCDS: Invalid login - Login not accepted by the control unit - Error 31: Invalid value range.
Thank you for your help.

Hello Peter,
Please test the VCDS beta version first. If that doesn't work, send me a full vehicle scan.

What is the differential pressure like during ignition, with the engine off?
Please provide the differential pressure and offset values.
What are the filter loading and ash content?
Please take a Screenshot of measurement blocks 67, 68, and the "Extended ID" section.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Peter,
der Differenzdruck bei Motor aus steht ja bereits bei 0mbar, von daher was sollte da noch angelernt werden? Okay, that works.
"Why the control unit doesn't like this is, of course, another question, possibly because the value is already acceptable or the filter is clogged (with ash). I'll check what the permissible value is for the ash content."
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
Thank you very much for your help. I will be removing, cleaning, and resetting the ash mass of the DPF in the next few days. Then, I would like to refill the additive at the same time. And that's where I have a question: Is there a way to check with VCDS how much additive is left in the container, or do I have to remove the container to check? My next question is: What type of additive should I use? Can you give me some tips here (which type, where to buy it, etc.)? Last question: After filling the container and reinstalling it, do I need to reset any parameters? Thanks in advance!!!
Best regards.
