Hello,
How do the newer, more advanced electronic control units (ECUs) in electric fireplace heating (EFH) systems actually detect and store the upper and lower limits of the mechanical components during the initial setup or calibration process for the high and low speed automatic functions?
Are there any hidden position sensors involved, or does it simply work by storing a current threshold when the frequency inverters for the main drive motors are shut down?
Reason (so that the bear has something to complain about again):
Since my Polo 6R can no longer be easily converted to manual window cranks (due to the mounting position of the power window motors next to the dashboard instead of in the front seat knee area), I want to at least make the electrical system more similar to a manual crank system: Disconnecting it from the comfort system, providing constant power to the switch, and implementing an end-stop mechanism to prevent material breakage.
Gruß Ulf

Hi there,
As far as I know, there's an overcurrent shut-off. When that didn't exist yet, the newly introduced comfort features were deliberately deactivated because the pinch protection wasn't guaranteed. I seem to remember a video somewhere that showed an electric food processor being used as a cucumber slicer.
Best regards from Berlin,
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Yes.
At the same time, this implements the now mandatory pinch protection feature.
I hope you are also aware that, regarding the gray-colored components, you need to provide proof that your design is sufficiently effective. These safety circuits are now subject to examination.
"For example, this year I suddenly couldn't get the required vehicle inspection (TÜV) for my Jetta because the window mechanism can only be operated with the door open. When the door is closed, the roll cage obstructs it. The reason given was that the emergency exit was blocked."

What does the current mandatory program entail? Is there a specific clamping force that cannot be exceeded, or must the window automatically open again after the clamping is detected?
The latter, however, would be difficult to achieve without a positioning system .

And what are you doing now? Are you replacing that piece of cage in front of the FH switch with a pipe bend?

What's the point of all this renovation? Is it because you believe you can detect faults earlier and switch things off before the automatic system would?
Then let me tell you that you are very mistaken.
Before your ears registered that something sounded wrong and the brief moment for the command to remove your finger from the switch had passed, the automatic system had already stopped.

1. The ability to open and close windows without having to turn on the ignition every time.

"Tell me, how do your predictions work? Do they just happen overnight, or is there a solid foundation of data behind them?"
I have to admit, none of my cars have ever had such malfunctions before. While I'm not familiar with the Polo, even in older models like the Golf, you could open and close the windows without turning on the ignition...you didn't even need to be inside the car to do it.

http://www.polo6rfreunde.de/index.php/Thread/6184-Fensterheber-haben-Eigenleben-%C3%96ffnen-sich-selbstst%C3%A4ndig-bei-verschlossenem-Fahrz/
That's exactly what I want to eliminate before it starts manifesting in me as well .
It's not enough for me to simply disable the comfort function. I simply want to be able to operate the windows "the old-fashioned way, with direct access" (when the door is open), without having to insert a key into the ignition or door lock as a preliminary step, or having to press buttons on the remote control for what feels like half a minute.

A mouse could just sneak into the car unnoticed and then, at night, it would run on the switch . The window would open because it's connected to a constant power supply.

Good point about the mouse... Then there's also a permanent "plus kills" switch in a location where no mouse can reach.

See the original post:
Since the window motor assembly position in my Polo 6R is next to the dashboard (instead of in the front seat knee area), it's no longer a simple "plug and play" conversion to manual window cranks...

I can hardly imagine that the VW Group platform doesn't offer anything that can be customized or adapted.
"Could you please find some pictures of a stripped-down Polo with manual windows, and also pictures of other vehicles from the same era (e.g., Seat Ibiza, Skoda Fabia) that came with manual windows?"
EDIT: It might also be worth investigating whether there are versions of the 6R with manual window lifters specifically for developing countries. Brazil, for example, could be quite interesting, as they often have features that aren't available elsewhere.

Take a look at where (approximately) the shift linkage axis is located in the red door of the Polo 6R, and compare it to the door of the Ibiza 6L below. I had converted the Ibiza to use linkages, but with the 6R, I don't want to have to cut away the outer ~20cm of the dashboard each time to allow the linkages to engage .

Das sehe ich schon, aber das spielt doch keine Rolle wo es bei der el. The version is installed.
The manual FH  can be designed/made in a way that it's located somewhere else. Of course, this won't be 100% plug-and-play, and holes will have to be drilled, for example. But your electronics tinkering isn't exactly plug-and-play either, is it? }

Unfortunately, the VW parts catalog does not list any crankshaft handle mechanisms for the front doors, even for versions sold in foreign markets.
Door panels for manual window operation are only available for the rear doors, both domestically and internationally.
And before I, for example, move a chain drive from the FH axis next to the control panel to a DIY crank at knee height, and in doing so have to modify the door panels, I would rather solve the problem with an electrical conversion .
