Hello everyone.

"When new members join, they often praise the technical level [of something]."

While there might be some general attempts to gain favor and sympathy involved, I suspect that not everything is just empty talk.

Does anyone here know of other TDI websites where we could get some ideas - or are we really the only ones, completely without competition icon_eek.gif icon_question.gif?

In my opinion, the relevant German websites are all about wider, deeper, faster, and 'wow, look at my new rims,' or 'wow, check out my summer look,' or 'wow, my meticulously cleaned car.'

There are some brilliant American websites, but unfortunately, they are only available in English.

Overall, the forum is excellent in terms of quality. This is also thanks to the professional mechanics who are very active and engaged!

Hi Jörg,

That's also my general impression so far, when I occasionally look at other places.
However, I'm not really a digital nomad, which is why I'm asking if I might have overlooked something important so far.

Yes, occasionally relevant links are posted here.
But in some cases, the content has disappointed me - for example, increasing the charging pressure by adding an adjustable short circuit to the output of the sensor in order to reduce the output voltage new_tomato.gif.
But this shouldn't be a blanket condemnation of all American forums...

Yes, often Americans only scratch the surface! But there are also insightful and informative threads! I often read American forums.

'But I didn't want to generalize about the German websites! There is also valuable and insightful information to be found, but not in the concentrated form that we have here! In my opinion, we are furthest ahead here with the diagnostic information, whether it's about common adapters, the interpretation of measured values, or specific fault diagnosis based on the data from the diagnostic system. We owe a lot of that to you and Michael! Also, the technical details are much more in-depth than on other platforms! Perhaps that's also due to the access control that has been implemented. That largely keeps beginners away. Surprisingly, there are also relatively few complainers and people who don't know how to behave properly here! It looks quite different on other sites! Elsewhere, your group affiliation based on your nickname changes with the number of posts. That's a mess, because you might have posted 5000 times and no one knows what you're actually about. I think the evaluation system here, which focuses on quality rather than quantity, is much better!'At this point, I'd also like to thank Rainer for this high-quality forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! icon_exclaim.gif

I also think that Rainer's entrance exam is a pretty good idea for filtering out those who are not truly serious about the subject.

At least the community here seems to confirm my general experience:
Behind impressive facades, there often isn't much real expertise – and these types of people seem (so far) to be failing at the entrance, even if they're simply too lazy to find the correct answers.

I think most of you are probably familiar with it.

Best regards,

Hello,

The only diesel forum I know of with people of similar expertise is...
http://www.fatty-fuels.de/
It mainly concerns vegetable oil processing.

Hello.
Wolfgang.

Regarding topics such as timing belt replacement, etc., one has to find information elsewhere. The necessary information sources for this, etc., can be found in another forum, which I will not mention here.
I will mention. . .

Hi.

Why don't you specify which other forum you're referring to?

For example, I myself am not jealous of other people who know other things or more things than I do - the main thing is that I know the people involved and know who I could contact if I need to. icon_razz.gif

...and as far as advertising is concerned, I think it's only unwelcome here when it's clearly financially motivated "stealth advertising."

Regarding the "more than 4-cylinder problem": the 1.9-liter engines are probably the most common, and therefore, most technically interested TDI enthusiasts likely own a 1.9-liter model. Consequently, they can often only contribute "first-hand experiences" related to the 4-cylinder engines.

I also find it a shame that we (so far) have very few experienced experts on 5- and 6-cylinder TDIs here... but I think they would be very welcome here (as long as they contribute positively to the community).

This forum is much more sophisticated and often more helpful compared to other forums I know (like Auto-Intern or Gute Fahrt).
Unfortunately, the proportion of drivers with 6-cylinder TDI engines (e.g., AFB) is quite small, so I couldn't expect much help with certain problems. Of course, that doesn't stop me from reading here and occasionally sharing my old experiences from the previous 4-cylinder TDIs icon_wink.gif.
I hope that the expertise and level of quality continue like this! Perhaps some more owners of 6-cylinder TDI engines will join icon_wink.gif.

Regards,

DENNIS

Hi there,

This forum seems to be quite unique, although I'm sure I'm not familiar with everything relevant.
In my opinion, this is largely due to the rather strict moderation policy, which prevents questions from being repeatedly asked every two days.
"I also find it very pleasant that there aren't any clueless know-it-alls here sharing their half-baked or completely incorrect opinions, as happens in many other forums."

Keep up the good work!

greetings

I can recommend a very good mailing list from Yahoo/VWVR6; it's really great. Uwe_ross is also a member. Even if you don't post yourself, it's worth reading. This list has over 300 members.

Aha... so, they still exist. I remember them from my VR6 days. They're not bad, actually, and they're necessary with that VR6 engine icon_smile.gif... that junk, it never lasted more than a month for me without causing problems. I definitely didn't miss it when it was gone. But I had many like-minded people on the mailing list who gave a lot of valuable tips.
