Hello everyone,

I have a vehicle with an EDC17C46 engine control unit (ECU). It has an EA189 engine, which will likely receive an update in the future. I want to be able to compare the AGR (air-fuel ratio) values, fuel consumption, etc., before and after the update. Therefore, I acquired a used ECU and updated it to the latest software version (without WFS).

"Injector learning values, etc., could be read from the adaptation channels. However, I am missing data such as DPF ash mass, etc."

Does anyone know how this works with the newer EDC17 systems? Is the "initialize particulate filter" function in the APKs/login sufficient?

Hello,

The ash level in the DPF should be adjustable, and it should be adjusted based on the filter's mileage (e.g., > 50,000 km).

Have you checked out the adjusted version yet?

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi, yes, as I wrote, I checked the adaptation channels. Otherwise, I wouldn't be asking icon_surprised.gif.

I also specifically checked with versions 15.7 and beta 16.5, and both show the same result.

Please provide the text you would like me to translate. I need the text from the attachment to be able to translate it.

Thank you for the Screenshot. I'm not sure what "initialization" refers to in this context. In older engine control units, the actual values displayed are usually the ash mass or ash volume. Is it possible to enter values there?

Please retrieve the ash mass or ash volume from the extended measurement blocks in the old engine control unit beforehand and write it down. icon_idea.gif

Best regards, Rainer.

When initializing, the unit is set to Tkm. I tested this as follows:

1. Default setting: "Reset particle filter learning values."
2. Access permission 12233
3. Adaptation channel "DPF initialization" -> Enter the mileage the DPF has accumulated.

The oil ash volume has been reduced to 0.02 liters, similar to the "source control unit/vehicle." However, the calculated soot mass is 24g, instead of the 12g of the original control unit. I suspect this is because I don't have a differential pressure sensor on my test ECU setup.

Can anyone offer any insights regarding the calculated soot mass? I've also been experimenting with the total kilometers driven (Tkm) during initialization, and I'm observing that both the oil ash volume and the soot mass increase simultaneously.

"I had the DPF cleaned on a Sharan 7N some time ago. Afterwards, I used the initialization procedure you showed, setting the distance to 20,000 km. This resulted in a value of 0.01 for the oil ash volume. Do I need to adjust something to get back to the original value?"

Sure, no problem.

I just edited my previous post when you wrote your message. I thought I'd try it out - it's not like anything important is being discussed right now anyway.
