Hello everyone,
Okay, I'm going to ask a really silly question now, although it seems quite stupid to me at the moment.

Passat V6 TDI, BDH, 132 kW.

Where is the first cylinder located in a V6 TDI engine?

On the front right side, which is the passenger side, either at the rear of the fender well or on the front of the radiator.

According to the camshaft timing, cylinder number one should be at top dead center (TDC) and positioned at the injection wall.

Is there an exploded diagram available for that?

"Answers would be great; I've already taken the old waves out, and the markings on the new ones don't seem right."

Regards,
Michi.

Hi!
According to DIN xxx, the first cylinder is located opposite the main power output side/clutch.
Okay, in the front.

Edit: I still had some uncertainty about something:
Now from Wikipedia:
However, which cylinder receives the number 1 is not uniformly defined. In the automotive sector, German manufacturers regularly refer to DIN 73021.[7] According to this standard, the cylinder that lies on the front left from the observer's perspective receives the number 1; in doing so, the view must be from the engine end where there is NOT (!) the power output/flywheel.[7]
Grüße, Steffen!

Unfortunately, the diagram in the link does not apply to Audi V6 engines.

In Audi's 6-cylinder engines, the first cylinder is located on the front passenger side.
On the right side of the vehicle, the cylinders are arranged from front to back as follows: cylinder 1, then cylinder 2, and finally cylinder 3.
Then, on the left side, you'll find cylinders 4, 5, and 6.

It's quite easy to determine, for example, by checking the part number on the valve covers.

059103470Q Cylinder head cover, right side, cylinders 1-3.
059103469AA Cylinder head cover, left side, cylinders 4-6.

Das Schema im Link trifft auf die Audi V6-Motoren leider nicht zu.

Oops... I hadn't noticed that... I was only concerned with cylinder 1.

You are absolutely right icon_redface.gif.
