Golf2 GTD Import: COC Paper Inspection Report

Hello everyone,

I would like to import an old Golf 2 GTD and register it in Germany.

Has anyone ever done something like this before?
Does anyone have any experience?
Does anyone have an original copy of the letter?
Does anyone have the ABE number that is listed on a German vehicle registration document?

It would be incredibly awesome if you could help me get this car.

Hi there!

GTD refers only to the trim level, so a turbodiesel engine in the GT version. However, the Golf 2 TD was available with five different engines.

1V --> 44 kW (Potter standard with catalytic converter, fuel injection pump without LDA).
JR --> 51 kW
MF --> 51 kW
SB --> 59 kW (turbocharger from the factory).
RA --> 59 kW (turbocharger from the factory).

From which country should it be imported?

What emission standard does it meet?

"At that time, COC (Certificate of Conformity) documents didn't exist yet, so a § 21 final inspection is required. The costs for this will likely range from €150 to €250, depending on the amount of work involved."
