Hi.
It started at the beginning of the month; I was on vacation in Switzerland, and on the way back, while driving on the highway, the engine malfunctioned, with the warning light flashing.
The problem was initially resolved by restarting the engine twice, and I was able to drive the 800km home without any issues. The diagnostic readout indicated that the turbocharger pressure regulation limit was being exceeded. Today, I investigated the issue further and found that it only occurs when it's cold outside. I checked all the vacuum lines and discovered that the vacuum-operated valve that controls the EGR cooler is leaking, resulting in a loss of vacuum. Consequently, the turbocharger pressure regulation system is also malfunctioning.

Okay, so this old canister isn't sold separately, and the AGR cooler (which is expensive) is also completely inaccessible in all-wheel-drive vehicles, making it a pain to replace. What happens if the cooler stops switching (which it's not doing now)? There are no error codes stored. Now I'm thinking about the "flag" solution: plugging the vacuum hose to the cooler and restoring the turbo boost control.
"The exhaust emissions might not be as clean when the engine is cold, and it's probably not legal, but does it damage the engine?"
If the AGR cooler is always cooling.

Hello,

It's possible that the EGR valve will become clogged faster with continuous cooling, so I would try to find a used one.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi.
Okay, I've temporarily blocked the solenoid valve, which should allow the car to run again for now. I've already tried using a used one, but it's proving difficult. My old EGR cooler is, of course, already in the trash. I'm going to try fitting a different pressure sensor. I've ordered one from a Passat 3BG Turbo model, and I'll need to figure out how to adapt it. I'll keep you updated.

Hi.
"I received the faulty radiator I had won at auction today. However, contrary to the description, the shaft of the flap is also broken, but the casing is intact. I don't need to do any complicated repairs; I just need to replace the casing. I'll see if I can access it from above or if I need to use a lift."

Hi.
Okay, so the used canister is installed, but it's quite a hassle to replace the canister on an all-wheel-drive vehicle. Unfortunately, the used canister isn't providing full lift anymore.
The old one actually had a hole in the plastic housing. Now I've seen in a video posted here on the forum that the AGR cooler has a heat shield over it, which I seem to be missing. Does anyone have a part number for it? I couldn't find anything in AKTE.

I suppose I'll have to make a new one for the old can. I have one for the turbo lying around; let's see if I can get that one to fit. It's also made of sheet metal.
