Hello everyone.

As some of you may already know, I reported about my problem with the climate control system in a thread. 'The compressor switches on and off every 60 seconds.' Thanks to you, I made progress and discovered that the diagnosis from VW was actually correct, namely a defective electric fan.

So, jetzt habe ich ein bißchen im E*** nachgeschaut und da gibt mehrere Teilenr. für ein desselber E-lüfter. AlOkay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English.

Part number: 8D0 959 455C --> 'Valeo' 280 mm, 300W.

Part No. 8D0 959 455L --> 'Gate' 280mm 300W

Part No. 3B0 959 455C --> 'Valeo', 280mm, 300W.

My question is: What are the differences between them, and can I install one of them in my car?

Sure, those things are super expensive, so I found alternatives. An electric fan from Hella costs me about half the price.

VW -> €306.00

Hella -> €140.00

But that doesn't matter; I just wanted to learn a little more about VW diesel engines.

I would be very grateful for clarification.

In the last column of the program you are using, you can see which fans are designed for which engine.

The "L" is only for the ANA MKB.
8D0 ... "C" is, among other things, for your AHH.
3B0... "C" is only for AGN.

Regards,
Guste.

Thank you for the response, guste100.

Yes, I saw that, but: Are these fans 100% identical, or are there any differences? They all have a diameter of 280mm and a power rating of 300W.

I wonder where the difference lies. In theory, part number 8D0..L should also fit in 'AHH,' or am I wrong?

Are there different fans available in terms of power and size?

Best regards,

Are there indeed fans with the same strength and also the same size?

icon_biggrin.gif In theory, I agree with you. icon_biggrin.gif

But practically, you'll probably only find out by testing it. But I'll say this much: "Why would VW assign two part numbers if it were the same fan, and one number wasn't simply replacing the other?" My guess is that there's a difference. And if that difference isn't in diameter or power consumption, then it might be in mounting options, depth, connector type, or something else..."

I would just choose the one that matches your motherboard and that's it!

It's different, of course, if you manage to get one of the other models at a good price. Then, you might hope that they are similar enough, and that you could potentially combine them with parts from your old fan to get something working again.

But it's unlikely that anyone here will be able to tell you the exact difference.

Regards,
Guste.

Yes, of course, theory and practice are miles apart icon_biggrin.gif.

It's quite obvious, isn't it, that what you wrote makes sense: why would there be other part numbers listed if one of them would have fit?

I suspect the problem lies with the connection, the plug, or something similar, as you already mentioned.

'No, I don't want to assemble fans myself; I already bought a new one. I was just curious about how and why they work.'

Regards,
3B.

Hello,

I have an AHH motor and a fan from Gate 8D0959455L installed. If that's the original part, then the part numbers don't match, do they? It should actually be the 455C.
