Golf 7 VCDS: Troubleshooting Access Issues

The reason for my post is that I am unable to initiate a service regeneration while driving my Golf 7 (DDYA).
VCDS versions 17.8 and then 18.9 were used on Windows 7, with a HEX+CAN interface.
Here's what I'm observing in detail:
- Alle meines Wissens vorhandenen Steuergeräte tauchen im Autoscan auf (sh. Appendix).
- Intermittent errors can be cleared, for example, in the Climatronic system.
STG1 (Engine):
- Default setting – Particle filter service regeneration: "This service is not supported in the current session."
- Actuator diagnosis - radiator fan control: "Rejected by the control unit".
- Attempted login using the code displayed by VCDS 18.9 (27971). Error: "Control unit does not send a seed."
- Reading extended measurement data is working.
STG 17 (Terminal block):
- Actuator diagnosis – warning buzzer (?) – functioning.
- Actuator diagnosis - indicator lights - "rejected by the control unit".
- Modification of the APK to change the "Ignition Active" message is working; modification to change "TFL via BAP or sequence" is working.
I am aware that the HEX+CAN interface does not recognize all control units (ECUs) in the Golf 7. However, I am surprised that it only works with some ECUs partially.
Could there be another cause?

Hello Herbert,

According to the vehicle identification number, the model year of your Golf is 2018. For vehicles of that year or newer, there was the HEX-V2 or HEX-NET system available.

Unfortunately, I can't say exactly what's going wrong with you, as I didn't program that.

My guess is that it's due to that. So far, everything I've tried has worked on my 2018 T6, but a forced regeneration hasn't been necessary (or, fortunately, hasn't been required).

There might be other experiences out there, but I only work on my own vehicles.

I'll wait a bit to see if anyone else knows anything about this topic.
Otherwise, it essentially amounts to a HEX-V2. The 10 VIN version is probably correct.

It is now clear that, with the 2018 Golf, the control units that are found during the car scan are not fully accessible via HEX+CAN.
With HEX-V2, it works - for example, on the engine control unit, you can perform actuator diagnostics, service regeneration, and unlocking functions.
It's likely that this can also be applied to other, more recent models.
