Vehicle: Golf VII - GTI - Performance - Year of manufacture: October 2018.
Hello forum members,
Unfortunately, the VCDS-HEX-V2 service reset button is not functional in newer VW vehicles.
There is no equivalent alternative solution.
For a reset, entries/changes in section 17, "Switchboard Installation," and subsection 10, "Adjustment," are required.
A detailed guide on this topic does not exist, not even from Rosstech.
In area 17, specifically within the "Distribution Panel Insert 10 Adjustment" section, there are over 100 entries that are not self-explanatory, and many of them relate to service issues.
But a guess, or... Changes made based on suspicion are likely to be unsuccessful – and may even be harmful.
The latest firmware and software are installed.
Question for the forum experts:
Postponement of the long-life oil change service:
Which entries in section 17, subsection "Switching Panel Installation," and subsection 10, "Adjustment," need to be changed?
Resetting flexible service interval:
Which entries in section 17, subsection "Switching Panel Installation," and subsection 10, "Adjustment," need to be changed?
The previous entries in the forum only refer to older models, so I'm posting again about the topic of service reset.
Best regards,
Golf50000

Resetting flexible service interval:

is usually clearly visible within the adaptation channels. And very simple, easy to read.
Where is the Autoscan? There are several entries on this topic here; why not take a quick look at what's written?
Okay, I'm ready. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello forum members,
Unfortunately, this answer is not helpful to a non-expert.
The information only leads to entries from the year 2016 and to other vehicles such as Audi and Skoda. And the (and the following linked) posts contain too many phrases like "I believe - possibly - might".
As a non-expert:
Do the 2016 Skoda/Audi information resources also apply to a 2018 Golf (with UDS)?
What should be clearly visible in the service customization channels?
Which items need to be changed for a long-life oil service and flexible service appointment, and which items do not need to be changed?
The topic of service restoration is likely the most important function for most non-expert users.
Why is it not possible to create a comprehensive and up-to-date guide as a replacement for the non-functional "Service Reset" menu, referencing VW, Skoda, Audi, and Porsche as manufacturers, or referring to the entire VAG group?
Subject to time limitations, if applicable – with reference to the model series.
I have attached the Autoscan results and overview screenshots of the Golf 2018 customization channels.
Best regards,
Golf50000

Hello,
As you can see, there are several adaptation channels available.
You have already found the one for the WIV, IDE00342-WIV.
Generally, the minimum/maximum values and other similar settings should not be changed.
See also:

It is important not to switch between FIX and WIV without a valid reason, or to make unnecessary adjustments to already correct values.
Please review the linked posts again; it will likely work similarly for you. Feedback is welcome.
Whether it's a Skoda or a VW doesn't really matter. Audi and Seat also use the same concepts, and the exact implementation largely depends on the generation of control units.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello....
I can definitely understand your problem, because "clear" is a different word.
Okay, here's some basic knowledge to help you understand and grasp the structure of the system:
There are two maintenance systems within the VAG Group:
- Flexible maintenance interval
Your driving profile, fuel consumption, number of engine starts, temperature exposure, and the deteriorating oil quality, among other factors, are used to calculate the next service interval. This calculation is "flexible" and tailored to your vehicle's usage, and the information is reported to you via the onboard computer. This means that the mileage and time intervals may vary depending on your usage and could potentially be shorter. For long distances and with "good" usage patterns, it can last longer.
Therefore, the entire process is called "WIV" - which stands for "Extended Maintenance Interval."
Fixed maintenance interval
Regardless of the factors affecting your vehicle, you will always be prompted to bring it in for a service, including an oil change, after a predetermined mileage (15,000 km) or time period (365 days).
Therefore, the entire process is called FIX - Fixed Interval Maintenance.
Then, we still need to mention the abbreviation SIA, which stands for "Service Interval Indicator."
The IDE channels with SIA only deal with the behavior of the display in the FIS (Factory Information System)/on-board computer, specifically when and what information is displayed, including warning thresholds before the actual due date/mileage, etc.
The only thing you should adjust there is whether the message is active in the FIS or not. If, for example, you drove over a service interval, then a normal reset might not be sufficient based on my experience.
FIX: If you are using a fixed interval, you must:
- IDE03351-FIX: Distance traveled since the last maintenance inspection based on mileage.
- IDE03352-Fix: Time since last time-dependent inspection.
set to 0. These two channels then start counting from the beginning again, until the pre-warning threshold is reached, at which point the service request is triggered again.
WIV: If you drive with a flexible interval (longlife) service, you must:
- IDE00510-WIV: Distance traveled since last inspection.
- IDE00511-WIV: Time elapsed since inspection.
set to 0. These two channels then start counting from the beginning again, until the next, flexibly calculated interval for service or inspection is reached, at which point the service request is triggered again.
IDE00342-WIV: Resetting the WIV only resets the service entry and the calculation parameters (oil quality/soot content/thermal load), but not the days/km that are displayed in the FIS/BC.
It's best to avoid all the other IDE channels, as they are simply not good enough. They contain all the specifications that are coordinated across different channels, and discrepancies between them will generate implausible messages.
All the data presented here is based on my own experiences and comes from various cars (A64F, A64G, A4B8, A4B9, Golf 6, Golf 7, Tuareg 1 & 2, A38V, Skoda Octavia 3).
Specifically with the Golf 7, I've adjusted and tested all the settings and channels, so I know what works and what doesn't. I tried these things because I knew what I was doing and how to revert them back to the default settings. Please don't mess around with these settings and try things out! Just leave it.
VW does not provide instructions in the workshop manuals because the reset process is always automated by service personnel through the workshop adapter within the "guided menu/section," when the vehicle is "online" with the workshop.
Regards, Mpire.

"I'm risking being unpopular by saying this..."
There's an additional tool for VCDS that, based on my experience, works very well for resetting the UDS speedometer service interval.

Okay, it's a shame that this isn't integrated into VCDS...
Generally, clicking on the 3 adjustment channels is not a big deal.
