Sharan 7N Steering Rack Support

Last night, I noticed that the mounting brackets were already starting to crack. I'm talking about that aluminum die-cast part that secures the stabilizer bar behind the splash shield.

I definitely need to replace that before my vacation.

Is a re-alignment necessary afterwards? To me, it looks like the drill holes are longitudinal, so I'm missing the fixed point. However, I know that VW didn't perform an alignment on my old Sharan. Is there a trick to this?

If you're referring to the lower control arm mounting points:

don't think too much.

Remove and replace either 3 or 6 screws... nothing else needs to be disassembled, and no wheel alignment is required.

That's exactly what I meant. I ordered the reinforced version from Meyle HD. They will be replaced tonight.

The exchange has been completed. In the picture, you can already see a noticeable visual difference. I can't say how long the bearing will last. The driving performance is great again.

Unfortunately, these bearings are undersized; the same ones are used in the Polo 9N, and they don't last forever.
