ABS Problem: Air in Brake Lines - Troubleshooting

Hi, I've made a big mistake. While bleeding the brakes on my Leon (2003) with an ARL engine, I accidentally emptied the reservoir. This caused air to get into the ABS/ESP unit. Since refilling and re-bleeding haven't improved the spongy brake pedal feel, I unfortunately have to take it to a workshop. There, they will electronically activate the pump for diagnostic purposes, which will bleed the system, and then the reservoir needs to be quickly refilled.

My question is: Can the hydraulic unit also be controlled using VCDS?
Can someone explain the procedure to me?

Now that I finally own my own VCDS software and no longer have to rely on borrowed copies, I have a question regarding the hydraulic unit bleeding procedure after replacing the brake hoses on my Passat.

After replacing all the brake hoses and experiencing a slight fluid loss, I initially bled the brakes using a conventional pressure bleeding system at 1 bar. Then, in the second step, I tried to bleed the brakes using VCDS, but when accessing the basic settings (block 1, 2, etc.), I only encountered errors and, despite watching YouTube videos, I am unable to bleed the brakes with VCDS. There are no error codes stored in the system's memory.
Can my software version VCDS DRV 19.6.2 do that?
Since the pedal is still slightly soft, I would like to proceed with this step after all.
Ah, yes, driving with regulated ABS was perfectly possible yesterday thanks to the snow.

The specific basic settings channels available are determined by the respective control unit and not by VCDS.

Unfortunately, the system function test is not yet complete.

Driving with the ABS initially illuminated, and then performing braking maneuvers only caused the ABS light to turn off. Subsequently, even when using the ABS during braking, the diagnostic test could not be completed.

I didn't even bother to bleed the system again.

I'm going to take a little more time tonight and try it again .

Thank you for the information. Yesterday, I was able to work on the topic again for about an hour, but I couldn't find more time.
Unfortunately, it hasn't changed much except that my car now has an off-road look thanks to the unpaved area and countless puddles.

I followed the instructions carefully and would like to describe my process. I'm sure that even after 20 attempts, there might be a small mistake in my procedure somewhere.

Connect VCDS to check if the system test is still active.
-Turn on the ignition, start the engine (I have an automatic transmission, in Park).
- VCDS displays the message "Active," the ABS/ESP warning light is illuminated, and a warning sound is emitted.
-VCDS terminated.
-both symbols are still lit up.
- Apply the brakes with increased brake pressure; the ESP system will disengage.
- Select driving mode "D" and accelerate to 20 km/h.
Maintain speed and turn the steering wheel 90 degrees.
-Circular motion at speeds exceeding 20 km/h until ABS is activated.
- Stopped and re-read the memory, unfortunately without success.
Repeated attempts with left turns, sometimes right turns, and even with the steering wheel turned 180 degrees have unfortunately not been successful so far.

Perhaps you have another idea on how I can achieve my goal, or maybe you can spot an error in the process?

You're not patient enough. I once had this mode in an Audi A3 8L and had to drive around for a while before it worked.

Anyway, I learned from that experience not to enable any test modes carelessly.
