Air in the braking system, ABS/ESP system test fails

Hi, I've made a big mistake. With my 2003 Leon ARL, I unfortunately emptied the brake fluid reservoir during the bleeding process. This has caused air to enter the ABS/ESP unit. Since refilling and re-bleeding hasn't improved the spongy brake pedal, I'll have to take it to the workshop. There, the pump will be activated electrically, which will bleed the system, and I'll need to quickly refill the reservoir.

My question now: Can the control of the hydraulic unit also be done with VCDS?
Can someone explain the procedure?

after I finally became the owner of my own VCDS software in January and am no longer dependent on a loan, I have a question regarding the hydraulic unit: bleeding after replacing the brake hose on my Passat.

After replacing all brake lines and experiencing a slight loss of fluid, I initially bled the system conventionally using a pressure gauge and 1 bar. However, when I attempted to bleed the system in the 2nd step using VCDS, only an error appeared in the default settings for blocks 1, 2, etc., and I am unable to bleed the system with VCDS (even after reviewing the YouTube videos). No error is stored in the memory.

Could it be that my VCDS software version, DRV 19.6.2, is not compatible?
Since the pedal is still slightly soft, I would still like to perform this step.
Oh, I was able to take a drive with functioning ABS thanks to the snow yesterday.

The specific options available are determined by the individual control unit, not VCDS.

Please provide a readable Screenshot of the available options in your brake control unit and a vehicle scan.

Unfortunately, the system function test is not yet complete.

Driving with the initially illuminated ABS and subsequent braking attempts only caused the ABS light to go out, but subsequent braking with ABS did not help to complete the test according to the diagnosis.

I have not yet performed a re-bleeding.

I will take some more time tonight and try again ;-)

Hello everyone,

thanks for the information. Yesterday, I was able to work on the topic again for an hour. Unfortunately, there were no changes except that my car now has an off-road design, thanks to the unpaved area and countless puddles.

I followed the good instructions, and I'll describe my process. I'm sure I made a small mistake somewhere, even after 20 repetitions.

-Connect VCDS to check if the system test is still active
-Turn ignition on, start engine (I have an automatic, gear P)
-VCDS shows message: ABS/ESP light and warning sound
-VCDS finished
-Both symbols are still lit
-Press brake pedal with increased pressure, ESP deactivates
-Select gear D and accelerate to 20kmh
-Maintain speed and turn steering wheel 90 degrees
-Perform a circle at over 20km/h until ABS deactivates
-Stop and re-scan, unfortunately no success
-Repeated multiple times, driving left, sometimes right, sometimes with a 180-degree steering wheel position, unfortunately so far unsuccessful ;-(

Maybe you have another idea on how to reach my goal, or can find an error in the process?

You seem to lack patience. I once had this mode in an A3 8L and had to drive around for some time.

Anyway, I learned from that experience not to activate any test modes carelessly. 8)
