Two-Mass Flywheel: Testing & When to Replace

When is it better to replace a dual-mass flywheel rather than reusing it?
A Sachs clutch kit was installed in my car. Unfortunately, I can't find any documentation that specifies the permissible axial play or radial runout for the flywheel. On the Sachs website, I only found that the radial play should not exceed 6 teeth when the flywheel is rotated. Is that all there is to it? This is for a BLS engine.
The tipping angle is not specified at all; it is only mentioned that it may vary depending on the design.

To put it in terms of "teeth," the play in my dual-mass flywheel is between 2.25 and 2.5 teeth. And there's a 2mm amount of play in the tilt.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything about that in this forum.

I think it's very difficult to make a clear statement about that.
The small radial play seems good at first glance. I don't know your mileage.

Given that it has already been installed for over 100,000 km, I would recommend replacing it, considering the mileage and the specific application.

The clutch still looked good. But when you have everything disassembled, you might as well replace it. I did it in the garage, over a pit. That made me want to only have to do that experience once X.

I also base my decision on the amount of work involved in changing the clutch, as well as the cost factor associated with the dual-mass flywheel (DMF).

For a Sharan/Galaxy with a 6-speed transmission, I would always replace it, regardless of its condition. However, if the transmission can be removed in a maximum of 2 hours, it might not be necessary to replace it.

Regarding durability, there are no clear statements; some fail after only 50,000 km, while others run perfectly fine with 500,000 km.

Well, in that case, it's usually best to install a new clutch kit. And if you need a workshop, that's even more important.

In my case, it's not really that expensive.

Unfortunately, that's exactly the case, even though it goes against the idea of the forum. Due to the installation situation, it's ultimately better to replace everything at once...
