Golf 6 horn not working

Hello everyone

The horn is not working on a Volkswagen Golf 6, first registration: 04/2012. The horn and fuses are in good working order. Relay swapped.
There is no signal reaching the horn connector.

BCM is broken .

Just checked: Dashboard control panel, measurement block 071, 3rd position. Horn function (pressed/not pressed) is working correctly. Error as described above, reappears immediately after deletion.

Hello Kai,

Is the electrical connection from the body control module to the horn relay in good working order? Does the relay click when the horn is activated? It usually boils down to either a faulty connector or a damaged cable.

Neither a click nor any voltage, ground, or positive connection was detected.

Cause: A fuse was MISSING .

After a lengthy search, I noticed that a fuse holder had a contact on both sides, whereas typically, fuse holders either have one contact or none where fuses are supposed to be inserted. Where there were contacts, I inserted a fuse. "Ugh, here we go again... honestly, you never stop learning."

The owner doesn't even know if he himself removed the fuse or something, and it wasn't until the TÜV inspection that it was discovered that the horn wasn't working.

Possibly an ADAC workshop check, or a verification of the customer's honesty .

Hmm, good question. He's a loyal customer, so I doubt he's trying to trick me.

Can anyone tell me where the horn relay is located in a Golf 6 GTI 5K0? According to my diagnostic tool, there is no signal at the relay.

If you already have a diagnostic tool, we would appreciate an Autoscan.
If no one can tell you right away, you can find the location of the relay in the vehicle-specific manual or wiring diagram.

Hi,

While doing some research on my own, I came across a page that discusses the relay number 3 (horn relay) for the Golf 6.
"located in the 'Relay diagram, Type 2 / Relay holder via body control module'." It's probably located under the dashboard trim, just like in the Fabia 1.
So, the lower kick panel needs to be removed, and the relay bracket should be located directly above it on the left side.
