Hello.
For my VW Golf 7 1.4 TSI with engine code CZCA, which has a power output of 92 kW.
The timing needs to be readjusted because the timing belt must have skipped a tooth. The ribbed belt broke while driving. Fortunately, there was no engine damage, and the engine is still running, but the EPC light is now coming on intermittently. The error memory confirms my suspicion. Error code 4096 indicates a problem with the camshaft position sensor (G40) / crankshaft position sensor (G28) on bank 1.
P001600: Incorrect mapping.
"There must be something wrong with the valve timing, right? I'm going to rotate the engine to Top Dead Center (TDC) and then check if the valve timing is still correct."
What I'm curious about now is: If the valve timing is incorrect due to issues with the intake or exhaust camshafts, how are they realigned? The crankshaft is usually blocked at the bottom with a screw, which presses against the crankshaft flange. I assume I can't use the usual tools to lock the camshafts anymore since the timing is off. Can the camshaft sprockets be loosened so that they can be repositioned to the Top Dead Center (TDC) position?I'd really like to know how to readjust the valve timing (the procedure).
It would be great if someone could explain to me how to do it.
Thank you for the information.
Best regards, Snaker.
