I have a VW Scirocco, manufactured in 2011, with 80,000 km mileage and 160 horsepower. The vehicle has not been started or moved for over two years and has been permanently parked in an underground garage.
Unfortunately, I cannot solve this problem here.
Since we engaged the clutch for the first time, I've been getting the following error message in the transmission control unit.
Gang R. Not adjustable. P072b
And right at the beginning, there was also an error in section 7.
Shifted the gears down, replaced the shift fork detents even though they didn't appear to be broken. Everything was reinstalled, and the basic configuration was started with VCDS, but it stopped after about 10 seconds with error code 101.
Error: Gearbox control unit memory - only reverse gear (R) cannot be adjusted.
We removed the gearbox, installed a new dual-clutch transmission, and had the mechatronic unit inspected. The following aspects were evaluated in the Mechatronics course:
Shift fork with permanent magnet, tested and in good condition.
Mechatronic hall sensors tested, all okay.
The hydraulic pressure is 44 bar.
Basic settings reset with VCDS, but the same problem persists.
Does anyone know this problem? We've run out of ideas.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Regards,
Tomi.

I wouldn't have performed any mechanical work initially, as if the car was functioning properly before parking, mechanical damage due to simply sitting there is unlikely, illogical, and for me, completely unacceptable as a justification for any action taken.
First, check the onboard voltage. Then there are the corresponding wiring harnesses, because all sorts of creatures are attracted to such a permanent dwelling.
Also, also pay attention to any spilled operating fluids, such as transmission oil.
Sure, here's the translation:
"LG" translates to "Best regards" or "Sincerely" in English.
The car was parked in an underground garage.
What's also worth mentioning is that we initially wanted to manually shift the gears. When the mechatronic unit failed, the shift fork for reverse gear also became stuck, despite applying significant force.
We are also relying solely on the information provided by the previous owner and the condition of the car, specifically that it has been standing still for two years. The dust was clearly visible on the body of the car.
The initial setup was performed with battery support (using a charger).
In the video, you can hear him trying to shift gears, but it cuts out. We don't know why it's cutting out, though.
Transmission oil, 1.8 liters added.
The mechatronic unit has been completely drained and refilled with 1 liter of original central hydraulic oil.
Car Scan follows.

It would also be interesting to see the errors in the DSG (direct shift gearbox) that were present during the Autoscan, but apparently, those have been deleted.
So, does that mean "001836 Gang R cannot be adjusted"?
Have you ever tried to move the vehicle 50cm? In order for a gear to engage properly (in the default position), the mechanism within the transmission must also be in the correct position.
If it's not possible to engage the reverse gear manually with significant force even when the mechatronic unit is disconnected, then the problem is likely not the mechatronic unit itself, but rather the transmission.
The slip beads have already been replaced. When doing this, you usually manually check everything. Why wasn't it noticed (or ignored) that the R-fork cannot be shifted? That would have been the perfect moment to notice the error and continue researching in the disassembled state to determine the cause.
I would say: The seller probably "forgot" to mention a part of the history. Without disassembling the DSG (direct-shift gearbox), I don't think we'll be able to get any further. The cause is of a mechanical nature, and VCDS will only be able to provide very limited assistance.
