Hi!
...little problem book...
1. The sunroof has been fully open since the beginning of time (until you close it by three steps). At speeds of 40 km or more, the full sunroof opens. There seems to be interference, but it starts to vibrate violently. If I continue to use it, the humming will stop.
Does anyone know if there's a way to 'turn it around'? Wind deflectors?
2. Wind noise at the driver's door... so far, no car dealership has been able to fix it (even though they complain every time) The decorative molding at the bottom of the window always creates a step up to the back door...
Does anyone have a tip?
3. The reverse gear motor intermittently stops and the vehicle only restarts after a 1-2 second pause (only when reversing).
4. My FIS (Front Integrated System) gets darker from the top left, depending on the outside temperature (and inside temperature). The Factbase says that it's probably due to the heating... Does anyone know if the repair is going to cost money?
Vehicle Data: AFB, 2.5 V6 TDI, A4, Year of Manufacture/First Registration 6/99, 110kW, Quattro, Tiptronic. Currently 190,000 km. New engine at 135,000 km.
One more question: I've been driving on the highway and also very fast... I have the impression that my shock absorbers are nearing their end of life... can a mechanic check this? |

The solution to this problem is VERY expensive - make a window (preferably at the back) just a crack open, then it won't be so bad.
The sunroof behaves during driving like the resonating cavity of a flute, and the passing air then creates the "flute tones". If you interrupt the enclosed space (the resonant chamber) by opening a window, then these noises will disappear.
I've experienced this "problem" with all my SD vehicles, and it's normal. Gruß Bertil

So, I'm not sure if I've read this correctly. I have a Golf IV, and it has a kind of lock on the SD opening switch, so that you can't fully open the roof without intentionally holding the switch. In the normal "fully open" position, it holds well with the wind noise. However, if you fully open the roof, I have the same noises as you. I can only agree that this is perfectly normal. Maybe a plexiglass windshield deflector, like the ones you used to see on older Mercedes vehicles, would help.
As far as I know, the issue with the FIS can only be fixed by incurring high costs, i.e., replacing the entire instrument cluster. Many older Audis have also become darker over time... I probably can't do anything about it. I can only say that the display in my Polo (Yes, I know, it's not a DOT Matrix or nullachtfünfzehen digital clock) was delivered after parking in Prague (New Year's Eve and down to -30°C) after a week. The same thing happened to the Sony radio. What I mean is, these ads seem to be quite temperature-dependent, so you have to accept that. |

Hi Matthias,
to that, all I have is:
a) Fortunately, I have a 'Glueck Garantieversicherung' which also covers electrical appliances. Let's see if it's still valid.
There are things.
Greetings

Hello,
On my G4 with SD card from the factory, it's also like this. Unfortunately, it is
a 2-door model, therefore it is unfortunately not possible to enter from the back through the window.
Easy to open - but also accessible through the passenger window. The
A switch can be turned all the way up without any resistance.
In my wife's Passat, I have a WEBASTO Top Slider Comfort.
Electric Large (Long model name!) installed. This SD
opens up over the roof and behaves much better than the VW-SD
(Incidentally, this is also manufactured by Webasto (or Rockwell)!).
You can also leave it completely open at 160. The sun protection blind
can also be used with an open roof and the roof closes
30 seconds after the ignition is switched off, automatically. The only
The problem is that the control switch is useless: after two years it was

Hello, you guys.
'The shock absorber inspection is done by TÜV for us. The last two times I was there, it was even free. (If there aren't many customers)'
I have the same problem with the dark screen, and the only options are eBay and luck, or a lot of money.
Best regards, Garth |

-> Audi CarLife Plus.
The cost of replacing the entire instrument part amounts to approximately 550 EUR, including installation.
They also pay for the wiper motor, including installation, for around 170 EUR.
Unfortunately, these are separate cases, meaning I have to pay the deductible twice.
However, when it comes to the headlight adjustment mechanism (the entire headlight assembly needs to be replaced), they seem to be malfunctioning... Headlights are not replaced.
Well, it recently happened while following a truck, coinciding with the rock hitting the windshield... meaning this will be covered by the partial insurance.
'The self-assessments remain, but fortunately (and I'm saying this REALLY!), I have been assured.'
This makes only partial sense regarding insurance discussions. For me, it makes sense... I have already had repairs totaling almost 2000 EUR in the past 3/4 years, and I have only paid a 400 EUR annual premium. I am very satisfied.
Greetings
Felix
P.S. I was lucky that I had taken out the insurance at 146,500 km... otherwise (>>150,000) it wouldn't be covered anymore. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing these issues with my Audi.
I also have a V6 TDI, AFB, Quattro 12/98, and I got a new engine at 90,000 miles; but since then I've already had 3 transmissions and 2 ESPs, and now I also have a new turbo and the sixth LMM.
For the sunroof, there might be a solution; there are two different wind deflectors, one has interruptions, and the other does not.
According to Audi, they can be easily replaced, and they don't cost a fortune either.
One bubbles at a specific speed, while the other is above the pace. (allegedly)
 Stefan .
P.S.: I'm hearing wind noise coming from the driver's side door. |

Stefan,
Turbo was also already gone, the gearbox was still in good condition... but I also took out insurance because of the high costs (14,000 EUR).
Wind noise and the driver's door? Oh... my mechanic said this morning that they hadn't actually fixed my driver's door (apparently, the wind noise is obvious, you can actually see that the seal is hanging), because when they replaced the windshield, they realized that the seal on the driver's side, specifically at the top edge, was no longer attached, but simply sitting... -> and that's the reason for the wind noise.
They have indeed been resolved; the optical misaligned element on the driver's door, and the remaining wind noise, are still present.
Because of the wind deflector, I'll take a look... I'll have to go back anyway to pick up the new Bettle glasses holder
Greetings
Felix
P.S. It's sometimes really surprising how workshops get into trouble... due to things like hidden climate control menus, Symphony equalizer settings, and compatible replacement parts from other VAG vehicles... 'Where did you get that information from?'
Should something like this be a quality criterion? |
