@all,
On my Passat Variant 3B V6 Syncro, the brake caliper nipple on the right front is broken, it's just one of those things that happens.
What should I do with the rest?
The vent opening is still blocked. Nothing came out (no wonder the nipples didn't move).
Since the nipple has such a practical hole in the middle, I was thinking of a suitable 'extractor'. Does anything speak against this? The nipple appears to be made of aluminum, or am I mistaken?
Can I buy the nipples separately? And if so, where? Are these standard parts?
I will probably have it done at the workshop (due to (And also, bleed the brakes) and I just want to avoid being told that they need to replace the 'new brake calipers' or something similar.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Greetings
Peter |

Hi,
You can find the vent screws at auto parts stores. Turning them will not work; simply carefully drill out the part. Since the thread doesn't extend the entire length, drilling it out is actually straightforward.
The tricky part is then to get the remaining threads out of the brake caliper without damaging them.

I can only agree with Rainer. We once had a Passat 35i. The easiest way was to remove the saddle, clamp it in a vise, carefully drill a hole, and then carefully remove it from the threaded hole. The nipple is available from every automotive parts supplier and costs less than €5. |

I am following the words of my predecessors! Assuming that this will not cause any problems, with the necessary fine-tuning. |

I had the same problem recently. Then, a mechanic from a shop gave me a slot and then it worked perfectly with a small screwdriver (and before that, a lot of rust remover...).
'Using a power drill is a bit of a gamble. It often works fine, but if it breaks down mid-process, it's usually the end.' The metal parts are hardened, so you won't be able to drill anything out of them anymore...
Would it also be possible to drill there beforehand...?
Greetings
