I have a Golf III TD (AAZ) where the power steering is loose.
Turning left is difficult (as long as everything is cold), but turning right always works well.

Now, there are probably two manufacturers.

ZF 1H1 422 061
XTR USA 1H1 422 055

To find out what's written on the built-in part, you would need a stethoscope.
Therefore, my question is: Does it matter which ones I install? As far as I know, there's only one body and a limited number of tie rods.

It's likely that both steering racks will fit in your Golf. The question is which specific parts, such as tie rods, mounting brackets, hoses, etc., are specific to each steering rack.
As far as I know, you can identify the manufacturer by looking at the profile of the sleeves between the steering rack and the tie rod. Otherwise, you could ask the parts specialist at your trusted dealership. I would only replace what is absolutely necessary, mainly because of the limited space in the Golf.
