I drive an Octavia with a 90 horsepower TDI engine.
I need a tip on where I can tap into the voltage.
The LMM is not a problem...
Best regards,
Jürgen

If you want to build a SEBLST UC tuning box, you should certainly be able to read circuit diagrams.
Just get the one from the Octavia and find a suitable spot in the wiring harness.

You can buy a multimeter at a hardware store for 5 euros.
It is perfectly sufficient to measure the correct cables using this method.

Also, another way to keep the thread above
I suspect that the throttle cable goes directly to the engine control unit.
which is located near the windshield wiper motor.
Can anyone confirm this?
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hi,
I understand that you don't want to mess around with the wiring harness.
How about this:
DVM - Connect a wire to ground, then attach a probe to that wire, and then insert the probe directly into the strands of the potentiometer's cable. The potentiometer likely has two opposing channels, so choose the signal that works best for you.
Using 1-2 needles to pass through the cable or corresponding wire, and sealing the whole thing with hot glue, will provide a reliable signal. This can also be completely removed before a sale.
Whether the effort you're planning to put in will be worth it is a completely different matter.

So, my circuit diagrams cost 20 euros, and they also include over 100 pages of interesting pictures and text.
I call it "This is how it's done" for the Golf 3 TDI.
If I were to consult my crystal ball, it would tell me that an Octavia is essentially a Czech-made Golf 4. So, I would go to a bookstore, browse through a "Golf 4 swg" manual, and take a look at the wiring diagrams.
It costs absolutely nothing and can already help you!

P.S.: Those who complain will get even less help.
PPS: If you don't have any plans but are looking for some, just ask for them .

Okay, this thread can end here.
I was just at my VW/Skoda/Audi workshop, where they readily copied the correct wiring diagram for me.
That's even free of charge. Such excellent service is also known as customer retention .

I still don't understand the excitement here.
You can program microcontrollers, so you have a good amount of knowledge about electronics.
What was so complicated about getting a circuit diagram? (They're available in many places, and it's all illegal.)
And if you knew that all you were missing was the plan, why didn't you just ask for it directly?
Your question seemed extremely thoughtless and aimless (in contrast to your obvious knowledge), which is why I made a somewhat cynical comment. If someone asks a question like "Where is the engine?" here, they will only get sarcastic answers.
Honor and respect your VW workshop, because copying the plans is also forbidden for them - if they do it for you, you are someone very special!!!
Have fun crafting!
Wow, another tip. Be careful, a gas stove can cost several hundred euros!!!! (THIS IS NOT A JOKE, NOT CYNICISM!!!!)

Yes, designing electronics and programming small 8-bit microcontrollers is my profession.
It would be more interesting to know what load I can apply to the potentiometer's voltage without changing its value.
I'm going to go to the parts department with my DVM and get the throttle potentiometer .
There's nothing about that in the circuit diagram.
Wiring diagrams for cars are already a nightmare for electricians, as they adhere to a completely idiosyncratic standard...

The answer is: Not at all.
Any significant stress distorts the signal, and above a certain VALUE, the MSG detects a defect.
But the question is not whether to use an op-amp as a voltage follower, but rather to use a megohm resistor connected to ground as the input. This will not introduce any distortion.
If you're considering using a microcontroller, the analog input will have a similar high input impedance, and then you can proceed directly.

The microcontroller I'm using has an input impedance of 100M ohms on its ADC. I probably don't need to worry about that anymore...
Since I also obtain the LMM (likely maximum mass) value, I can also analyze whether it still provides a corresponding value at full power, or whether it is becoming clogged.
Okay, let's see. First, I've gathered all the necessary signals from the vehicle and brought them to a single location. Now, I'll design the circuit and then the software for it...
