Sure, here's a simple translation:

"Let's do something simple."
Okay, here's the translation:

Now, a question:
1.) Does anyone know where the two O-rings go? There's a light blue one and a black one; which one goes on top and which one goes on the bottom? I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but it sounds silly, but I'm now considering even the simplest causes. For some reason, they're different colors.
2.) Does anyone know where I might find thicker O-rings that don't require additional components like fiber rings to be "pressed into place" or to "help with sealing"?
Thank you in advance.
Bernd.

Unfortunately, I don't (anymore) know where the colors go.
I just changed it the same way as before, and the Leon ASV is still running.

But you could try placing something underneath the valve to provide extra support, so that the spring clip pushes it down more firmly. For example, you could insert a piece of cardboard or something similar between the valve and the clip.

I would try that first.

As far as I know, there's only supposed to be one large ring there, and the replacement ring might be a different color!
With the new "Frosch" [product name], there is also a new sealing ring!
"Thicker rings must be diesel-compatible, but I'm not familiar with any specific ones."

Nope, Klaus.

"In the G3 model, it was a flat O-ring. The G4 model has two O-rings that are placed around the valve before it returns to the filter."

Thank you for the clarification. What does "NOPE" mean? Does it stand for "Not Okay, Personal Expression"?

Thank you all!
"There are definitely 2 O-rings, and definitely 1 light blue and 1 black, as I said, I don't know if it makes a difference. If anyone ever changes the fuel filter again, it would be nice if they could tell me the position of the O-rings."
By the way, I installed a fiber ring under the valve spring, which has the exact right diameter and thickness, and thus presses the valve firmly into its seat. Nevertheless, after 4200 km, the problem started again.
Best regards,
Bernd icon_smile.gif

Hello Bernd,

The manufacturing tolerances for non-original VW filters are large !

My currently installed filter is from Fiaam, and its internal dimension, where the aforementioned thermostat is installed, is slightly wider.
The two sealing rings would therefore also have to be slightly wider, but such rings are not readily available, so I placed a fiber washer underneath, and this solution has worked so far; the line is bubble-free.

However, I rotated the spring clip (also known as a "frog") and, in doing so, applied slightly more vertical pressure to the thermostat.

Which color will go on top now? I have to remove the thermostat first; I mean
blue . As far as I know, the only difference is the material of the seals.

I would recommend installing a new thermostat and original filters, even though the price at VW is outrageous!

If this approach solves the problem in the long term, the cost is acceptable, as a new filter will be needed eventually anyway.

For me, only an original part is an option for a diesel filter. If there are any issues with its dimensions, I will return it.

Best regards,

Wolfgang.

Hello,

My currently installed filter is not a UFI product made in China, and it costs €37.25.

but a Fiaam product, made in Italy, for €17.30.

The U-shaped pipe in the picture has an inner diameter at the thermostat connection.
from 50.8 mm

I don't want to remove the one currently installed at this time because it's tightly fitted for mass control purposes. However, I will replace it during the next change and, if necessary, I will post an update here.

The
definitive order of the sealing rings on the thermostat:

the
blue upward.

the black downwards.

Best regards,

Wolfgang.

I recently replaced the "Knackfrosch" (presumably a device or component) as a precaution due to a potential air leak.
Although he was probably not the cause.
What I noticed was that, in addition to the 2 rubber rings that were already installed, 2 extra rubber rings were included.
And 2: The installation was significantly more complicated than with the old "Knackfrosch" (presumably a product name).
It took quite a bit of force to get it in.
Apparently, they have learned from their mistakes and have eliminated the source of the error once and for all.
It's probably so tightly sealed that even RME (a company known for its high-quality products) wouldn't be able to get it to leak.

Okay, the UFI doesn't cost 37.98, but rather it's a -38% discount, which brings the price down to approximately 24.-.
I would have been surprised that these parts are included in the original equipment (especially for diesel engines) and are not subject to tolerances!
That's why I would have liked to double-check the measurements!
The problem is usually with the seals.
Has anyone ever tried using grease to prevent or eliminate drafts?

Hello teileklaus,

I hope the price in the picture is easy to see, €37.25 including VAT.

Invoice dated February 18, 2008.

That is fraud!

Best regards,

Wolfgang.

hello

So, I have to point out that some extremely high prices are being mentioned here.

Please don't misunderstand, this is not intended to be an advertisement!!!

In our store, a customer just paid for the MANN-FILTER WK 853/3 x.

30.37 euros, including tax.

By the way, we sold over 100 units last year WITHOUT ANY COMPLAINTS.

Best regards, Obelix.

Hello, I'm concerned about the accuracy of the dimensions of my Ufi filters, not the price I paid – I believe the price is reasonable because it's comparable to the original equipment (OE) price. Aftermarket filters are often cheaper, but having to replace two Fiam or other non-dimensionally accurate filters every 10,000 km due to air leaks ends up costing almost the same as using a good quality filter!
The art is to get good quality products at a low price, and that seems to be the case with the Ufifilter/Mannfilter, as long as there are no complaints.
Mine is 10.5 mm.

Is my 10.5 mm inner diameter suitable for the frog? Are we talking about the same thing?
