Hello everyone!
Can anyone give me a tip on where I can find a relatively detailed description of how much effort it takes to install a custom-burned chip into a VW Beetle 1.9 TDI engine control unit (ECU)?
I just bought an EEPROM and would like to do the tuning myself.
Soldering and similar tasks are no problem!
Who has gained experience?

I hope you didn't 'create' the characteristic curve yourself, did you?
You should only do that if you're absolutely sure of what you're doing. Otherwise, you might not enjoy your Beetle for very long.
I haven't opened up a Beetle's engine control unit (ECU) yet.
Regards,
Hermann.

Hi Jacky,
three questions:
- What is the VAG number of your control unit?
- Which programmer (with which adapters) did you get?
- Where does the chip come from?
Best regards, Rudi.

The chip is simply soldered in. For an experienced solderer with the appropriate equipment, this is not a problem. The control unit can also be easily opened with a ratchet. But where did you get the software?

That's a lot of things all at once!
I think I'll just leave it alone.
I don't have any specific software for this, I was actually hoping to get some help here. I can tell you the exact type of EEPROM once I have it, I bought it at an auction on eBay!
Well, maybe someone will give me a tip!
Best regards, Sven.

My advice is to have this done by people who understand the process. You can certainly try soldering it yourself, but just so you know, the board is 4-layer, and you'll likely never get it out in one piece without experience. It's better to invest a few extra euros, because a new unit costs quite a bit more. Cu Basti
