Chip for various control units?

Hello,

I have a chip here that's intended for the following engine control unit (ECU): 028 906 021 AK.
However, my control unit has an "AF" instead of an "AK" at the end. Will the chip still work? Will I break something if I install it?
Furthermore, this is only the chip that controls the turbocharger boost pressure.
The salesperson said it would be much better because it wouldn't increase consumption.
So far, I've only heard of tuning with two chips (at least for the 1Z engine).
However, I couldn't find any topics that address this question.
